Title: sunroof problems
Post by: vr6D4v3 on 02 June 2013, 22:09
Hi guys little help needed. My original sunroof motor has been playing up where it misses its stops and wont close when slid open. Leave it a few mins and it would start working. Doesnt always work on total closure either. So I bought a second hand motor, fitted it and now it takes about 50 presses to slide open and close and total closure only moves it about 1/4". If I then swap the motor over again it opens and closes without strain,  when it actually worked. I can open/close manually with the allen key with no restrictions at all?

Anyone got any ideas?  I'm at my last straw with this thing. 95 golf vr6

Thanks

do you have water stains on ceiling?
then probably water cant drain.... clear out the drain tubes in the door

could be corrosion on the control board that lives in the inside lights or broken wire.
you sure the sliders are not broken?

No water stains at all, switch was also replaced. The sliders move easily when the original motor decides to work but not with the replacement motor and also easily with allen key, no binding.  It really is confusing.

Any help is appreciated here, wouldn't it be faulty wiring if the symptoms were the same with both motors? Cos theyre not. The original works when it wants but when it does work it operates the mechanism fine.  The new one I got only slides about 1/4" and stops so you need to press the button about 50 times to open/close?

Very strange
