Title: Headlamp Washers
Post by: Eeef on 02 June 2013, 21:29
I've got the standard Halogens (boo!!) but I seem to have the cut outs In the bumper for the headlamp washers. Do they come as standard or do VW just drop the same bumper on no matter what?

Nothing pops out when the headlamps are on and I wash the screen, so they either don't come as standard, or don't work  :undecided:

All GTI/D front bumpers have washer jet caps regardless of whether they have washers or not.

Same with all GTIs.  All bumpers have the headlight washer cut-out whether they are fitted or not.

To have the washers, you must have the winter pack or xenons.

If you do have winter pack, they only wash the headlamps every 5th wash of the windscreen.  Bear this in mind when you're checking.

Pretty sure I don't have winter pack. Are there any visible signs to it?

Correction heated tartan seats.

Yeah, because heated seats became standard with leather (at some point) but to get it on cloth you had to opt for winter pack.

Ah ok. No bum warmers so no winter pack for me. Not that fussed tbh, heated washer nozzles would have been good though.

Apparently the heated nozzles still freeze up, so no great loss there.  And headlamp washers make a right mess of the bonnet and use up a lot of screen wash, so you're forever refilling it!  Some members disable them with vagcom.
