Title: fixed and cleaned anniversary
Post by: antivolks on 02 June 2013, 20:41
Vdubninja's car which has been sat on my drive since he bought my S3 off me.

Going in for a fresh MOT in the next week, and he'll be chucking up for-sale ads all over the show to get rid of it - stops me getting ear-ache off the wife as its on the driveway!

Has had a minor overhaul - replaced subframe (due to a bolt snapping and refusing to come out!), wishbone, ARB bushes & drop-links. Also sorted a minor coolant leak.

And a bit of clean (or should i say, alot!!) to get it looking nice for when people come to view it!

What you think?

Ill let him do the advert in the classified section as he knows more about the car than me - i just got filthy fixing & cleaning it!

I'll let jay buy that - I've chucked a couple of hundred into this to get rid of it already!

What's a car like this likely to fetch with a fresh mot?
Off the top of my head its got an induction kit & stainless steel exhaust which hopefully won't limit the scope for buyers.
And it's been lowered on springs and dampers.
Has a samco hose kit too.
Other than that I think it's standard....

The lights seem different but I don't think they are morettes. Like a carbon fibre look is the best way I can put it. They have hella markings on both the lights and the surround. A previous owner has fitted HID's to these.

Hmmm he told me he was planning on putting this up for £1400 because its an anniversary model.

Either way as long as i get the money back after what i paid into getting it on road and off driveway im not overly fussed.

Also, note to any mods - this isnt a 'whats my car worth' thread.
I dont have a clue about old golfs and their value.
What looks like an old car to me is probably an ideal enthusiast car to someone else.

Only golf i owned was a mk2 gti which the gearbox started to loose gears, stem seals were knackered... plenty of other issues anywho haha
Never bothered with one since

If he was to advertise it for £1400 someone will prob buy for about £1100 I rekon. But if I was to buy I would only pay £850 - £900. That's my price.

£600 -£800

its a 8v - worthless im afraid. anniversary means sh!t TBH

headlights are either genuine Hellas (optional extras back in day) or could be replicas

Yea they are genuine Hella lights. They are all stamped up - take it these are worth money on their own to someone interested in twin headlights?

As said, as long as i get the £280 its cost me to get it road legal for him, he can sell it for whatever he wants.

Considering its not rotten im sure someone would be interested. It does look nice

I told him ages ago when he had it to put a 1.8t lump in it as its the most gutless engine ive ever driven! (considering its a gti that is)

That costs a lot of money if done right. Its all well and said just drop a 1.8T in it.....but it has to be done right

Ill do you a 20VT conversion  :nerd:

to a super High standard..  2.0 8v and even the 16v are pretty poor TBH

the hellas if no damage can go for around the £100 mark.. pretty sought after

16vs with some good mods are fine. Of course not as good as 20vt but I would not say poor. Am getting ready to fit a 3.94 FD soon

Yea ill leave 20vt to someone else ;)

If the car was mine id do it myself, but ive already got a quick car.
Prob not a car any of you would like though - mazda 3 mps. 2.3ltr turbo. practical and quick
High road tax but cheap on insurance
