Title: BAM engine in a mk2?

My mate wants a new project. Hes on about a bam engine in a mk2.
First off, is this a silly amount of work?
2nd, whats the best mk2 to buy if everythings going ro be changed?

Plenty of other 20VT motors you could fit that don't have the moron tax.

Buy a 90 spec Golf 2 and it won't be too tough if you can do the wiring.

It wouldnt be for the road i dont think mate. Yeah my mates quite competent and things he cant do he knows people who do know. Just wondering if its a major job or not.. his mates got a 16v mk2 gti which is fast as f**k, so he just wants to go one better lol

One up on a 16v is a 16vt.

If it's for track then budget on an LSD to get the power down. And a cage.  And harnesses.  And buckets, or you'll look massive gays.

Motor just bolts up.  Look at Dave_iow's build thread for some pointers.

Any 1.8t with a remap will see good power, so does not need to be a BAM.
