Im thinking of changing my colour stripes from Red to one of these below, as Red doesnt go that great with Carbon Grey, I also just fancy something different.....Which colours do you like? (pardon my armature PhotoShop work)

The third one but more muted if possible.
I'm a lady and think the pink is  Why do blokes assume women always love pink??

Well thats because at least 70% of women do like Pink / Purple / Rose colours.....Its a scientific fact.
But i guess its girly girls, not cool ones who own GTI's
-
Haha. Interesting that you are so clued up on pink facts
Pink has its place but for me it's not on a car. Unless it's this:
My daughter's Barbie car........yes I'm hypocritically guilty of perpetuating the girls/pink thing

Back to topic now.....,,

Not feeling this, try and go for a colour that keeps it looking OEM.... Those colours make it look a bit like a halfords mod

Nah....dont want OEM anymore...want some Euro action. Just want its looking fresh, and truest me, Red dont look at that great on Carbon Grey.
Im think Green or Blue....or maybe Orange.......Ohhh sh1t i have no idea..
-
I like the blue :)
-
Ive got white on my candy white car, i like the oem colour
On the grill.
-
Don't do it! Why change the thing that dickens the GTI from other golfs?
The red strike is what sets it apart. The GTD grille looks pish IMO without the red.
-
I'm one of the gtd owners with the chrome grill and would've liked red.
Can the red strips be bought seperately or is it a complete grill?
Also does the Gti badge just unclip? Wondered if I bought a grill would my gtd badge unclip and fit into the new grill?
-
red doesn't go with grey..... for me the red is what makes it stand out in terms of grill and callipers
out of those i'd go for the blue for this reason

i think to pull it off brake colours need a change of colour and some powder blue rims and a healthy drop
-
how can anyone say that doesnt look great....

That's another good car ruined.
Some people should not be allowed halfords gift vouchers for Christmas.

Im must be going through a weird stage in my life then, i love my MK6 - but it is a bit dull from the outside...just want something a bit different and original.
-
Think im set on this, Blue with black badge. just looks nice, quite subtle and im my opinion goes better than the red:

That looks quite good but as wigit said, think you will need to do the calipers too, otherwise the red ones will be at odds with it would be too many colours going on, especially if you go with bronze wheels. Bronze/blue colour combo with black badge much better than some of the other harsh acid colours, imo.
-
RocketRoss, I had a carbon grey GTI and I thought the red looked great against the dark background. None of those colours you propose are an improvement on the original red. You will make the car look different but it won't look better [IMO] Save yourself the trouble and keep the car original mate.

Looks good if you want a different look to oem, as has been said though you need to tie the blue accent colour in elsewhere on the car.
I used to have a pic of a black GTi with blue strips with bbs split rims with blue centres which looked good, sadly its on my home pc which is currently dead :embarrassed:
-
I agree with Rick - keep it as it is.
Other colours look like an 18 year old's Halford mod and nobody will want to buy it when you come to sell it.
Each to their own though - the world would be a dull place if we were all the same.

Im never usually swayed by what other people think, but with so many people saying it doesnt look good, im starting to question it.
It was only going to be Vinyl wrapped not sprayed, so it was never permanent............mmmmmm -tough choice now
-
The age thing is a valid point. Don't know how old you are, but when you see unsubtle heavily modded cars they are usually driven by 18-20 year olds. Bit of a different matter seeing a 30+ year old driving one and looking a bit of a kn0b - no offence but I'm sure you know what I mean.
-
Agreed. I'm 45 and wouldn't dream of putting a Halford-esque mod like that on my car. OEM look all the way for someone my age. I'd map it, stick a Miltek on it, maybe even lower it but it'll stick look the classy machine it always did. Pink stripes on the front though, noooooo!!!
However, it's your car and you're perfectly entitled to do whatever you want with it - just because this old fogey wouldn't do it doesn't mean to say you shouldn't.

Well, to clear things up im 26 years old. So in the middle really. I have the same outlook as most of you. I hate badly done body kits, sh!tty gear knobs etc....
I didnt think changing the colour of the front stripe was in that category. When i look back at the picture they do look too vibrant, it would be more of a subtle blue or orange.
And in regards to mods. I think changing the sound (ie with a miltek) and lowering it makes it less OEM. (both of which i plan to do over the next few weeks)

Its a complete grill. I needed a new grill and would have liked the chrome but its £250 from the dealers. I tried sourcing one else where but couldnt find one, so I ended up buying a gti reg grill for £50. The strips do unclip and so does the badge but with great difficulty, your best bet is to break the clips off the badge and glue it back on.
im sure the strips are quite easy to unclip, you can do that then spray them the colour you want.
