Title: Bluetooth module advice and help
Post by: Obbzi on 31 May 2013, 23:06
To cut a long story short I have now discovered my RNS315 does not have bluetooth built in, some units do some don't mine doesn't

Anyway to get bluetooth active in the car I need a Bluetooth module (under the drivers seat).

There are a lot of different ones outthere and I want OEM (VW) so I can have the phone menu on the dash but can someone advise me which one I need or what are the differences between them all.

Thanks guys

Your going to need something like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-SEAT-SKODA-BLUETOOTH-BOX-MODULE-INTERFACE-KIT-MFD3-RNS510-RCD510-7P6035730F-/400499945676?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5d3fa830cc#ht_2408wt_818 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-SEAT-SKODA-BLUETOOTH-BOX-MODULE-INTERFACE-KIT-MFD3-RNS510-RCD510-7P6035730F-/400499945676?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5d3fa830cc#ht_2408wt_818)

This has a good bit of info http://www.myturbodiesel.com/1000q/a6/9w7-VW-bluetooth-module.htm (http://www.myturbodiesel.com/1000q/a6/9w7-VW-bluetooth-module.htm)

You will need it coding into the car too with VCDS.

Do all cars come with the wiring loom in place for the bluetooth module (under the seat) I can't check mine as its still in the garage

Seen a few units on ebay but its just the module and no wiring

No mate the car doesn't have any wiring you need to install the harness.
I bought mine through eBay delivered for £30 plug and play.

If you have an rcd510 you can't have voice control but all the info comes in the radio and the instruct menu panel and all steering wheel controls work.
Harness is here http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/viewitem?itemId=271186555593&index=7&nav=SEARCH&nid=28842858705

I'm at work and can't remember the control unit number but it began 7p6
When I find it I'll let you know.

Not that it matters but you can have voice control with an RCD510 as it works on mine but you'd be as well getting a complete kit like the one ajmoir36 posted.

Thanks guys.

My head unit is an RNS315 and I have an iphone.

From trawling through the internet I take it some of the modules are not compatable with iphones.

7p6 035 730 is that the one you got?

Will I have phonebook etc on my dash with this?

Yeah that's the one I got revision K from memory.
I bought it brand new through eBay for £60 so the whole install only cost £90 and it works perfectly.
Streams Bluetooth audio too.

I use an iPhone 5 and get full phone book etc

This is the harness needed with no voice control.
Contact the seller and tell him what head unit you have.
He's a very helpful and knowledgable person.
I thought I was being smart and ordered the one with voice control but the Bluetooth unit I had didn't have voice control.
I messaged him and he replied within 10 minutes telling me how to fix it.
Delivery was 1 week

Marshy, do you connect your iphone 5 to the MDI? If so how? Do you have a different lead?
