I've tried searching but no joy there's just too many posts to search through.
Simple question I no it will be a 1 word answer but do u need to recode the drivers side door lock module to the car one fitting a second hand module??
-
I would doubt it , the only electrics inside are microswitches and PCB wiring
-
no dont think so we about to do mine with a new one from VW and as far as im aware it just a straight swap
-
they are pretty easy to DIY repair guys, just trying to save you some £££
-
no coding needed with mk4 door locks, its all done in the ccm
-
To be honest a second hand module is probaly going to have or at least end up with the same problem.
youre better off opening up yours and re-soldering the dodgy dry joints.
-
Thanks guys was just checking u see as I had a second hand one fitted the other day but all my Symptoms are the same so I'm guessing the one that's been fitted was also faulty.
Thinking of fitting another one that's new or guaranteed working b4 I try the CCM as that does need coding I think.
-
how do you know the CCM needs coding?

Good question mate just think I've seen it needs coding on this forum over the years. Correct me if I'm wrong???
-
Dont think so, not unless youre putting a new one in etc..
if youre just changing the door module then you dont have to touch the ccm.
just take out the door module, and take apart and follow the how to in the maintenance and info section!

I changed more or less all modules on my previous mk4 with used ones from the scrappys and did not need coding or nothing.. just a b1tch to change em

Cheers mate.so defo doesnt need coding then.
Dont no what to do then as ive fitted a replacement from a sxrappy and im having exactly the same problems.key doesnt unlock car from push button,no door olen sign when drivers doors open&no warning sound when lighys are left on and no puddle light.
I dont no If my door module i have just fitted is also faulty or weather it could be the CCM.
Surely if the new door module was faulty it wouldnt be the exact same fault as the one i took out??isnt there a few diff microswitches that could need soldering so the one ive just fitted could of had different syptoms??
God no's im confused.

i almost 100% guarantee that it`s the dry joints on the pcb!
