Guys! Help! I'm currently sat at build week 28, I ordered Night Blue but have been having real doubts about the colour and fancy white so much now.. not sure if mid life crisis or not! lol... I wonder if a change of colour will impact my build week or not? Assume additional extras may, but would a colour change impact it do you think?
-
You sure it's not just cos loads of the cool pics of demo cars happen to be Pure White? I was surprised how good that Night Blue one looked on here the other day.
-
Nick: I would say a colour change would delay your order. I ordered a vanilla DBP 5DR GTD manual 3 days before my Dad ordered a vanilla DSG 5DR GTD. He made no changes and has build week 25, I changed colour 2 weeks into the order to TR and I have BW 26. I suspect i'd be on BW24 if I hadn't changed.
Benfield Silverlink have a Shadow Blue GTI demo in and it's one of those colours that really comes to life on a bright day IMO, the red accents of the GTI are a good contrast even if it isn't a traditional GTI colour.

I was looking at those night blue pics on the ipad, and then checked them out on the PC earlier too... it does look good. I work for a company whose colours are red and blue too, so didn't want to get stick for being 'corporate'
I wanted the blue originally to be different as I guessed white was going to be the dominant colour on the roads as it seems to be. Another consideration is that I still do 40 miles a day, so white would be a bugger to keep clean. I also live on a road that is near all white, from A4s, A5s and Hyundai's so also wanted blue to be able to stand out a bit.
So will probably stick with the blue I think..... be the odd one out in the Notts area!

I think the blue is really nice. Much much rarer than white which near 50% of people have picked. I considered changing from white to blue, but in the end stuck with the white.

have a look at the video i posted in the gti reviews section and the pictures of the white, i think its stunning, and its what ive ordered so bias
-
I started with Black Pearl, and then switched to Onyx White. It is stiill bugging me which colour I would like best, but I have tried to put it to the back of my mind. It really is a tough decision, I think they all look pretty good.

Nick, I'm quite indecisive over car purchase decisions and I'm always wondering if I've ordered the right colour and spec. If you're really having second thoughts then a trip to a dealer is a must. Even if there isn't a blue GTI demo near you, I'm sure you'll be able to track down another Mk 7 in that colour you can see up close. I agree with the other posts regarding the blue GTI pictures on here, they looked great.
-
It was always going to be the white for me on GTD as think it shows the lines and highlights trim of the MK7 better than any other colour that is an option but my alternatives would have been the Carbon and then the Blue but think they are still more suited to the GTi than GTD with how red features are highlighted.
Having had phantom and brilliant black on A3 which look amazing clean I can vouch they are a nightmare for dust, marks and particularly bird mess! Mine is a working car so gave in a while back to always looking quite dirty but if that is an issue for you avoid the black!
Loved the glacier white on A3 has a crisp blue hue, and imagine oryx is similar but at that cost?? Reluctant to pay for pure white! but given colour was set had no choice.
My favourite colour is not an option, think it is available on Golf R though not sure name? and closest is the Audi RS range 'Sepang' Gorgeous!

Personally, I find the only colours to suit a GTI are red, black or white. White is most popular because it is generally seen as the colour that suits it best and makes all the accents stand out.

I Kind of agree, though I would feel different if Viper Green was available, or Rising Blue for that matter.

Carbon Steel? Why is this not showing on the Configurator?

The configurator is mince. It is available if you ask your dealership

I have a driving video too. Will try to upload that one soon.
Here's is a short clip of the dealership's designated driver taking the car back after my test drive. He was really spanking the car earlier lol. He said it's one of the best cars he's driven and definitely the best golf he's ever driven.
I love the reverse light design on the gti. Love the sound it makes as he pulls out.

I think the Night Blue in the video actually looks awesome!

Why no Rising Blue? That's just the best colour ever. Similar to the DBP on my MK5 R32. That looked the dogs baubles!

Never been available on the Golf unless it's an R or silly money special order.

Rising Blue - the colour of my Scirocco. Not sure i'd order it for my GTD though, much as I like the colour. I have only ever associated that shade on a Golf if it is an R32, I feel like it wouldn't look right on any other Golf than an R.

Well, my dealer spoke to VW who have said I can change colour without effecting my build week... so made the plunge and changed to Pure White, and have to say I am much happier with that decision now.

To be honest doubt you would have been disappointed with the Night Blue - it was a colour I considered myself but do feel the white, no matter how common works best on this particular model, so welcome to the club :)

It's a really nice colour. Probably reserved for the upcoming Golf R.
I think it's this colour https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NjXlS9gKsNk

Believe that if you want, but my one colour change to my order has seen it bumped twice. :undecided:

Well, I was week 34 before and and am week 34 now... Time will tell!!

If that was available as an option that would be totally common as imagine we would all spec it! Similar to the Audi 'Sepang' which photos do not do justice as they look even better in the flesh but at £1800 it truly is an indulgence too far sadly ..

Glad you made a decision your happy with thats what counts.
I got all the bs of it not been a GTI colour even from local dealers when I ordered blue for the mk6 I have never regretted it and its one of the things people always go out there way to makes very positive coments on.
Never regretted the colour choice and im a diehard GTI fanatic. But then I do also own a GTI in one of the two original GTI colours..lol.
