Is it feasible to reuse the OEM brake pad wear indicators with aftermarket pads?
I'm looking at a set of Mintex 1144, however these don't come with wear indicators so wondering it the ones I have on at the moment can be moved over.
Thanks

Short answer - no, don't see how you could possibly do it!

Just leave your old one plugged in so you don't get a warning light and then replace your pads when needed. You don't need a little sensor to tell you when your pads are low

The old sensor is attached to the pads though
If you remove the sensor from the pads you will break the wires and the indicator light will be on anyway...

you can code the warning light out with vag com

Cut it off the old pads and twist the wires together...

dont you just unplug them and it will never show a warning light. My golf 1999 does not have one plus the 6 cars before that ,do newer cars after 2000 only have these sensors. :undecided: Just unplug them should be fine.

Unplugging it will have the same effect as the wires wearing through. A resistor will be needed to prevent the light from coming on.

nope, just vag-com  you code it in the clusters ive done it before on a galaxy :nerd:
its in the soft coding!

Bridging wires will get rid, no resistor needed. Get the correct pads and no need to mess avout

Thanks for the replies everyone.
Just spoke to Motorsportworld who have some in stock and they've confirmed the M1144 pads come with wear sensors.
