Title: Which Oil pressure switch?

Getting an occasional buzz on the dash at around 2500-300 RPM as revs drop or in a corner.  Only very intermitent, but levels are fine and no sign of coolent loss or smoke.  Is is the one on the head or the filter housing I need to check / replace?  Only serviced 2500 miles ago, and engine was flushed and then filled with Synta Silver, with a new VAG filter.

Might sound a bit un orthadox but maybe the sensor is working perfectly ok and its telling you that you have a problem such as a blockage in an oilway. Stranger things have happened!  :grin:

But yes the sensor is the easiest 1st thing to check. Not sure which one but i think its the one on the head as the one on the cooler reads the temperature.

How would I check for a blockage?  Is there any miracle cure / fluid I can drop in?

I think the only propper way to check for a blockage is to drop all the oil out the engine then remove the sump and clean all oilways. You could also add engine flush before you drop the oil.

sounds like an oil problem rather than a switch problem to me. as it happens when you go into a corner basicly your oil gets flug up to one side so if the oil is a bit low or isn't available to be sucked up the pump the buzzer will sound. i know that sounds obvious and i know you said the oil level is fine but the switches only work on pressure. the one on the block is a 0.3 bar one which works when you intiially start your engine, the one on the filter housing is the 1.8 bar one which works when you go over 2000 revs. if it is a switch it'll probably be the 1.8 bar one.

never hurts!
 use a genuine filter from gsf and vw synta oil, should cost about £16 for both.

Sorted.  Changed the Oil pump today and the gauze was full of crap.  Also changed the switch just in case, but from the state of it the pump was the main cause of the problem.  Also the plastic top of the dipstick has broken and had dropped bits of plastic into the sump.  Not good........
