Getting bored waiting for the car, so was viewing some images I've collated on the PC, and one thing struck me. I really like the honeycombed rear diffuser that the GTI uses, but the one on the GTD, "appears" to be the same unit as used on the standard Golfs (at least that's that it looks like).
Now whilst I know I could fit the GTI diffuser and the GTI rear exhaust box at some time in the future, I don't want the car to pretend to be something it's not, so don't really want it to pretend to be a GTI.
I then started looking at the new Golf R-Line, launched in Germany, and I have to say, I think the rear diffuser looks superb. Wonder if this will fit the GTD's rear bumper, and if so who much....hmm.....first mod ?

Cool, if it's just me then, looks like I'll be driving a one off

I don't think it's just the angle but if you look at the bottom of the bumper the R Line seems to be more squared off a la mk6 where the mk7 GTD diffuser has a very different angle so I don't think the bumper is the same and thus the diffuser won't fit.

As Exonian says, different rear bumper.

Definitely looks different.
On the white R Line the bottom of the wheel arch looks to be flared out towards the outside of the wheel probably to match the angle of the side skirts whereas the GTD looks as if it actually flares in the way.
Also the rear reflector looks different to me. On the R Line the reflector and valance don't overlap much whereas on the GTD they run parallel for a longer stretch than the GTD
