The ultimate question to determine if you really are OCD!
-
hahaha, the last option made me laf!
-
What if your passenger likes Rihanna and you don't dislike it enough to turn the vol down?
I have the radio on when wor lass is in the car but as soon as she's out then I stick a bit of Rock on (rediscovering "Faith no more" at the moment).
-

I didn't consider that a realistic eventuality...
-
I don't notice what the passenger does when Rihanna comes on the radio, the commotion in my underpants is usually the centre of my attention...
-
I wouldn't be listening to Rihanna on the radio, as the display would not be symmetrical, never mind the volume knob. I think I need to go and see someone about this as there's only so much ABBA I can listen to.
-
Scream of course, then use the volume controls on the wheel! Of course, the actual outcome would depend on who my passenger was and what the potential rewards could be!
Oh yes, I'm definitely a bit OC, but not D - big difference between wanting something orderly and it becoming a life-altering disorder! Just saying, as I have a mate who is OCD about things being straight, and it ain't pretty!
-
I'm so glad others have this issue! I also have to have the climate control numbers as odd numbers when I'm going out and then even when I'm going home. :lipsrsealed: :embarrassed:
-
I'm beginning to see why some people ring VW UK up on a daily basis for an order update. I've only randg them 4 times because they never got back to me with an answer the first 3 times though.
-

 Wow.
Although, the Ford I drive allows you to set the temperature in 0.5° steps. I can never allow it to read xx.5, it has to be a whole degree or I'll change it!
-
I'll be honest, I cannot abide the temperatures on the dials to be different, sort of defeats the object of Dual Zone, but there we go, OCD for you
-

Ah, now this I'm looking forward to! Can't stand it when my wife turns the temperature up to 25°C just because she just got in the car and it was a tiny bit nippy outside! Now she can have it on whatever she likes and I can stay on a more sensible 21-22, heh heh heh
-
My 'OCD' takes it one step further... I have to have all the air vents either fully opened or fully closed & aligned correctly so that all the slats form a straight line!
-
I also like to have both temperatures the same, and even numbers. Also, vents have to be either fully open, or closed, or half way - nothing else will do, and they all have to align properly! Some very odd behaviour admittance going on here!
-
I find this thread very worrying.....
Some clever folk in here but are there any shrinks in the house??
-
Thank God I'm not alone!!
I even have to have the front seats at the same point on the runners so they are the same distance from the dash and back seat!!
I meet an ex-colleague for coffee occasionally to catch up on things and as soon as she gets in my car she deliberately pushes the seat right back and f**ks about with the volume control as she knows it winds me right up!!
My family on the other hand are scared to touch any of it and even if my wife is freezing in the car she is reluctant to touch the heating control as she knows it bugs me!!!
:lipsrsealed:
-
At least with climate control it all looks symmetrical at a glance. Spare a thought for us poor GT drivers with old fashioned air con. We have to have all three controls all in line, pointing straight up, regardless of what temperature, fan speed and direction of air we would ideally like.
-
Its like an epidemic! Why are we all so messed up?
Do you think there is anyway we can blame this on the VW ordering system?
-
Not sure, just don't come to my house and leave the surface of the spreadable butter a mess after using it!
-
How many of you have noticed if your wheel center caps are the right way round? The VW should be the right way up when the valve is at the 6 o clock position.
-
My OCD stretched to watching the man from Event Tyres painstakingly avoid any damage when putting two new fronts on today. Full marks to him too
-

I've taken wheels off and popped the centre caps to put them in correctly in the past.
:nerd:

I would do that, but I don't want to take them off myself (or have the means/skill for doing so). When I had my tyres changed recently, they put at least one of the wheels that was previously on the back on the front instead (it has a mark on it, so I can tell). This is very annoying. My centre caps are marked on the inside so I know which end and side the tyre belongs to when they get taken off the car and swapped for winter wheels. I did ask the fitters to take the centre caps out so I could re-fit them myself, but they failed to do so. Perhaps they couldn't work out how (bit thick).
I also make sure that the wing mirror knob is at the six o'clock position when I'm not using or about to use the heated mirrors or dipping passenger mirror features. I've actually unlocked the car and put the knob back to its "home" position on a number of occasions in the past.
The headlight dial pleases me greatly. I leave mine in the "Auto" position. It's pointing straight up. It looks tidy.
I don't think it's being "messed up". It's having a nice car and having spent a lot of money on it. Therefore I take great care of it and take pride in it. I want to keep it nice. It still puts a smile on my face, even if it is a diesel automatic with lots of stone chips in the bonnet (if only Kelly Brook could walk by when I'm driving along, she'd be unable to stop herself).

This thread is hilarious. Best one yet.
Keep it up (at a right angle of course ).

^+1.
On a previous car I owned many years ago, I never used the trip recorder as a trip recorder, but had it set so it always read the same as the last 3 digits of the odometer. Never changed it from the day I bought the car to the day I sold it!
With my mk6, I also have the volume knob on the head unit with the symbol in the correct, upward-facing position. Also, when I use the 12v socket in the cubby / ashtray in the centre console for my car vacuum, I always ensure the cigarette symbol on the cigarette lighter is in the horizontal position when I put the lighter back in the socket. Being a non-smoker, I never use the ashtray or the cigarette lighter, and the lid is always closed, so would it matter if the cigarette symbol on the lighter wasn't in the correct position? It would to me, even though no one else ever sees it!

Ok this may seem a bit extreme to some... But how many of you... After having cleaned your pride & joy, admit to driving "erratically" in the VAIN attempt to keep your car looking clean for as long as possible.... For example....
A) keeping a sizeable distance (big enough to fit 10 London buses) between you & the car in front, in the likely hood that the b'stard in front decides to target you with their washer fluid!
B) taking extreme evasive action when it comes to puddles, to the point where you end up driving on the wrong side of the road & nearly cause a head on collision!
C) however dirty your own windscreen is, you refrain from using your own windscreen wash for as long as possible knowing full well you can't see bugger all.... but you know its better that way than having dried on streak marks running down the side of your windows & doors!
D) driving as slowly as you can possibly get away with, to avoid bugs & insects committing Hari Kari on your bonnet. Avoiding motorways if necessary as bugs & insects like to congregate in the fast lane.
Is it only me??? I must be mad

+1 on all of these mate - you're not on your own!

It's not just you. I hate, hate, hate washing the car and then immediately watch it get dirty because it either rains or local farmers have driven their filthy tractors on the back roads near where I live. Drives me nuts!
I have been known to swerve into oncoming traffic to avoid puddles and pot holes  but not when the missus is a passenger.
-
That Monday morning drive, clean car, avoiding puddles, keeping a distance and then somebody goes and spoils it.
I spent a weekend last year machining my car, went out on the Monday and hit a swarm of bees. I have never seen such a messy aftermath, it was like insect bodies and honey. Poor bees.
I get everything written so far. I hate rusty hubs/wheelnuts/calipers and find myself walking along looking at parked cars hubs.
I have a thing about finger-marks on the inside surface of any glass, my lad learnt from about 18 months to keep them to himself.
I hate the way women turn every cubbyhole into a handbag, and the squirting of perfume before they get out of the car, wtf.
-
Ah yes, the cigarette lighter! I do that too. It HAS to be in the right position so that when I pop the ashtray lid once a year it looks right!! (I keep my postcodes in there in case the RNS ever loses them from its memory).
And yes, the puddles.
And the dirty windscreen - even more so on my car with xenons as when you wash the windscreen the headlights get a spray too and it goes all over the bonnet. Grrrrrrrr. Yukky water marks!!
And then there's the rear wiper. I never ever ever ever use the rear wiper. The mess it leaves is unbearable. Nope, I'm not a detailing fanatic (I don't mind a dirty car so long as the dirt is nice and evenly distributed!!) but I'd rather clean the whole car than use the rear wiper!!!
Oh God I need help...

Aaaaargh!!!! Yes the rear wiper....I would go far as to superglue it down in the future...., but don't you just hate it when it switches on automatically when you hit reverse!!! Especially on those cold dewy mornings & it leaves a bloody mess!!!
We all need to attend therapy I think!
-
Even when it's straight it's not quite straight

You can code this out with VCDS and was one of the first jobs on my mk6!!

Oh wow this totally this! What is wrong with them? It's like they think its some kind of mobile dressing room...
Also you should see my wife's car. She loves her allotment so the car has a permanent layer of mud on the inside and often a bag of manure in the boot. Needless to say she's not taking my GTI anywhere near that place!
-
Wonder of we can get a bulk buy therapy session?

Unfortunately this sums me up.
Last week I almost scraped a car coming the opposite way, as I was so intent on avoiding the roadside puddles and sullying my clean car. Spent the rest of the drive reminding myself that a dirty car is better than a smashed up car and an ex no claims bonus!
-
I have to go to the petrol station quite a lot to make sure the tank is half full.
The nice red dials then both point directly upwards.
Can be a bit stressful while the car is warming up.
-
How many of you take you shoes off to move the car about on the drive or into the garage after cleaning the mays and pedals? Then when you get in next time to actually drive somewhere, try to do so without putting anything other than the very backs of your heels on the mats?

Nah, I learned to deal with dirty mats!
