Title: Mats - Stud Fixing Point Problem
Post by: MK6-Fan on 22 May 2013, 21:15
Anyone who owns a car with the stud fixing points (x2) with an Audi, Skoda, Seat or particularly VW had any issues when trying to lift the carpet out & the popper/clip on the carpet get stuck onto the fixing point itself?

I was trying to remove my front carpets today to hoover the car when on the drivers side the right hand popper won't unclip from the fixing point! :(  It's like it's 'welded' on.

Does anyone who may have experienced this problem before know how to remove it from the fixing point?  I'm assuming that cutting it open with scissors may release it?

The mats have been in the car since I got it 10months ago & this is the first time I've taken the mats out the car.

Thanks for any help.

A good yank should do the trick.I would of kept quiet though about not removing them for 10months though.Mine are out at least once a week for a dust off.

Wow that's some dirty interior, once a week shake would make life easier.

Give them good yank, don't be frightened.

Are they genuine VW mats? I've never seen any with heel pads like those.

No, they're not genuine VW mats.

I bough them off Ebay for £15 as I object to paying the rip off £80 that VW wanted directly.

You'd be mad to pay £80 when they're only £50  :undecided:, I guess you get what ya pay for and all that?

Yeah but at least you'd be able to get the VW one's out!   A spare genuine Gti branded set from dealer cost me £60 - no problems with them and they come out every week for a clean.

VW ones you either just pull or if they're a bit stiff just put your thumb over the bit in the floor and put your middle and index finger under the mat insert and pull, not rocket science really!

and i've said before, how have you got a couple of thousand posts on detailing world and not had your mats out for 10 months??

My none GTI ones were £44 from TPS. Did you ask VW if they could help you out with the price?
