Title: KM/H - How Do I Remove This?
Post by: MK6-Fan on 22 May 2013, 11:48
Something I've noticed under the temperature reading on the MFD is a 'feature' that says KM/H.  Does anyone know why it's there & more importantly how to disable it?

Obviously we go by MPH here in the UK.

The kmh display is there because our speedometers don't show kmh which is law I think.
If you have access to vcds code your instrument cluster to rest of world and remove the kmh display and have a large mph display instead.
Looks much better and easy to do.

As said above, it has to be there in case you take the car overseas.

It's never bothered me. I know people on here have changed it to the Rest Of World settings via VagCom, but I'm not sure why you would need two mph speedos.

Indeed, what's the problem with having the kph displayed anyway?

Its a legal requirement of European cars to show both values. The speedo scale is in MPH only so they show KM/H in the MFD.

I don't know why your so concerned about removing it.

You say that, but I've hired cars abroad that have only had a kph speedo.

That's because we're in the EU. One rule for them, one rule for poor old Blighty ;)

I would actually like a dial with both miles and km on it.
