Title: anyone after a mk3 estate?
Post by: itavaltalainen on 21 May 2013, 20:07
considering to sell mine as I got a new job with company car entitlement.... but am torn as i've put quite a few quid and labour in  :undecided:

96 estate in mystic blue, 1.8 petrol (aam), 73k miles on clock (am only 3rd owner, previous owner had it for >>10 yrs). got all mots etc.
virtually rust free, there is a small bit on bottom end of front wings - just about to spread to sills but all superficial (would fit new wings if i were to keep it tbh and just grind sills down and re-paint), other than that you won't find more than a spot. paintwork in good condition....
really good service history (which is why i bought it). even comes with a set of winter tyres on steel wheels(currently still on them) in addition to summer tyres (2 of them are well old - might even be originals but still lots of treat, but they are also on steel wheels)

previous owner changed front brakes (discs and pads) 6 months before sale (09/2011) so still lots left

since i got it in march 2012 it's had the following changed...

- cambelt (plus both fanbelts) done 1 year 10k miles ago, brake fluid changed at same time.
- front right wheel bearing
- new rear brake drums, shoes and wheel bearings (failed mot for bearing but I've replaced the lot using well known brand parts)
- basic service, i.e. new air filters, oil + filter
- larger alternator - 90A with new voltage regulator as I have put in GTI headlights and fog lights on (all original VW parts) as well as a second cigarette lighter under the glove box for my camping fridge box that draws quite a bit of current
- front top strut mounts and shock absorbers (gas pressure)
- new exhaust from cat onwards (standard parts, nothing sporty)
- new dizzy cap and rotor, ignition leads

silly to sell now but would be a shame if it didn't get used, would you sell?

That looks way too clean to sell, if you have all sorts of cash in it, rather have it parked up then selling the estate!

Its not worth selling.

Edit
that sounds harsh lol
what I mean is. The golf 3 estate does not sell for good money. You will loose a lot. So its worth more to you than the little money you would get for it.

I just bought a 2002 audi a4 avant 2.0 sport for less than you will want for that, maybe.

I know what you mean ;)

Was looking at a Toyota Auris a short while ago... 4k for a car less than 5 years old and one owner and still well under 100k miles...

gotta find a new driver who wants a ford ka...

you'd have to make me a good offer....

I have a freshly cut loaf I bought earlier, if you can make it in time tonight then I will do a swap......If you cant make tonight then I do have some rolls in the freezer I could let defrost tonight so would be good for tomorrow

PM me a price bud.  As Tweed says though, you may want to keep her. If I did buy her off you she would be very well loved although would have 2 American Bully's in the boot and a few tools here and there as I am in the building trade!  My much loved Escort van sadly passed away on its last MOT due to rot, plus the MOT testers face when he tried to open one of the double rear doors and said 'Its stuck'  I replied with 'I know, I used a tube of Gripfill on it to keep it closed as the braket had snapped'  I don't think he could believe it when he looked and found out I was telling the truth!  Most of my van was held on by Gripfill though, awsome stuff for rusty vans

well, bringing this up again.... going to sell now (can wait till end of year).

my wife wants something smaller, and has found it (c3 pluriel 1.6 automatic).

my estate is still with only 76k miles, new wishbone bushes, 11 months MOT, taxed till march 2014....

Comes with 1 set of winter tyres and 1 set of summer tyres.... winter tyres have 5-6mm tread, summer around 3-5mm (2 of them are quite old though).

If someone is after a neat estate in well kept state then here's your chance. won't sell it for silly money but open for sensible offers for what it is and what you get!
