are 16v and 8v front discs the same size??
cheers
-
I believe so depending on the year, really early mk3 GTI's might have had smaller discs then the later models but I have limited experiences further back than P reg....
-
from mid 95 the 8v got the 16v/vr6 spec 288mm front discs
-
Early 16v were 280 tho, no?
Dunno what's on this VR on a 93. I think they're 280 but will confirm if I ever take the wheels off.
-
Yeah early valvers are 280mm. I have a set of 288 brakes waiting to put on mine though :nerd:

Early vrs have 280 :)

My 94 vr has 288 but they could have been swapped in the past
-
it has being said the 1993 16v and 92/93 VR had 280mm... they changed somewhere around 1993 (so I'm told)

I think different factories must have done different things!
So many variations! Seen P reg with square indicators and 280 8v then another one I had was all late spec on a P with 288.

my 95 16v had oval indicators but 280 disc
guess they wanted to use up old stock
-
my old 1995M had square repeaters and 288mm discs........ and my later chassis numbered 1995M car has square repeaters and 280mm discs
better than Citroen who had 3 different brake systems fitted.... dependant on what stock they had/ what was cheapest to buy that week etc etc
the parts deprtment I was at had to keep 12 different pads for a range of 4 cars!! (i actually think there was about 30+ different options during 1992/3 when you include the different models for each range)
