Title: Climate Screen??

Sorry to keep adding new posts if there are already forums, but seen a few comments from UK posters about adding Climate Screen?? I've never seen this and its not on the congiurator? A heated from screen is always something VW has lacked and if its finally arrived, thats great, but I've not seen is as an option anywhere?? Am I missing something??

If search forum a few of us have had issues with this and think it been withdrawn in Ireland - Basically you have to have the Advanced Phone Kit with it as a mandatory option doubling the price to over £700 (to do with signal blocking for phones is the consensus as to why) - I cancelled my order and spent the £ on DCC and will just invest in a good scraper and hope the VW demists quickly and effectively - I have the winter pack and heated seats so at least be in comfort while wait ;)

Some have ordered the climate screen and phone pack and as with all options here there is no right there is no wrong as at end of day it is what wholly feels right for you :)

As MJH says they force you to get the advanced phone prep if you order the screen.  This causes problems:

1) Together these options cost about £600... that is the biggest rip off ever (for comparison my Ford got its front screen for £100 and it is a fancier set up than the VW one).
2) The phone prep actually removes functionality for iphone users instead of adding it.

I don't buy the VW reasoning about the screen blocking phone signal, its clearly horsesh!t they are peddling.  Here is one reason why, the phone signal is uninterrupted though the side windows!

If they were being fair instead of money grabbing then either the currently offered laminate headed screen, or a more traditional wire based heated screen, would be free, or failing that included in the winter pack.

Thanks chaps... but I've never seen the screen or premium phone pack as a configurable option in England??

The website is not accurate at all.  Call your dealer and they'll add if it you want.

EDIT: Basically the website seems have many errors and it is rare they update it and even if they do they may not fix the errors.  Its like its not a priority for them, they probably have some tech maintain it who's job is really to fix bugs not ensure the accuracy of the information on 50 different models of cars... Which is to say VW management is failing to recognise the importance of the site configurator on customer relations.

Thanks guys, like in my other post, now downloaded the latest price list and it has the advanced telephone and cimate screen on there now!! Not sure about the addition, really dont want to effect my build week now. May enquire as to whether it will effect it or not... but will the advanced premium phone thingy really improve the reception and will it work with the iphone 5!  :drool:

With an iPhone, you won't get any benefits of the advanced phone connection as apple don't support the rSAP protocol in their phones like others do. So you won't be able to make use of the conductive plate and therefore the roof aerial on your iPhone.

To be honest, unless you are thinking of swapping to an rSAP compatible phone in the near future, you are better off with the standard Bluetooth.

Thanks mate, dealer said it would push the order back by 5 weeks or so if I were to add it. So decided against it anyway!

I don't get VW reasoning here, I have a heated front screen on my new Evoque and no problems whatsoever with phone signals or anything.

It does seem strange it's not part of the winter pack as to me it appears as though your paying £375 really just for the heated seats.

£350 for winter pack if you haven't ordered the leather and pre 1st may price increase.
