Title: ACC
Post by: Adamp252 on 17 May 2013, 20:43
Hi All.
I am looking at purchasing a used golf gti mk6 and was wondering if they come with the ACC (adaptive chassis control) as standard in England because non of them seem to have it.

Hi

No, ACC did not come as standard on the mk6 in UK.  It was an additional optional extra you had to spec.

Many people on here have it, so I would expect there to be some used mk6's about with it.  Maybe you need to keep looking

Well I think so.

I've had gti's both with and without it and would spec it again.  The differences are quite subtle but with the poor state of UK's roads it makes the ride a bit more forgiving over the potholes.    That said, my mk6 has 19" wheels so that was a large part of the reason I went for it.   I use comfort mode about half the time and normal the other half.

Ah right sound pal. I've only found a few with it on but there 20k plus. Do you think there worth the money a lot of my friends and family think I'm crazy paying anything more than 14k on a golf gti.

Depends on what else you're getting for the 20k?

ACC was about £700 as an option on mk6, and is £800 on a new mk7, so for 20k you'd be wanting to see a very well specced car.

What's on your wish list?

If you've never had it you can't miss it, but once you've had it!!

20k - manual, 10k miles, there prices as hell. If test drove a few and there wicked. Was looking at a mk5 but keeping getting set back by how amazing the mk6 is. Have you tuned yours up? Do you think the price of mk6 will drop a lot when the mk6 drops?

Both great cars.  I've had two mk5's and loved both of them.  Sounds like you've got your heart set on mk6 - more refined, quieter linear power delivery, better interior.   Mine is stock, not tuned but both mk's offer great opportunities on that score.  Loads of threads on here about mapping.

Hard to say what will happen with mk6 prices.  As the look of the mk7 is not that dissimilar to the mk6, which will still look fairly current,  can't see prices dropping that much.  Come late summer, once the deliveries of mk7's arrive should be more choice in the used mk6 market

Absolutely yes.  When I'm driving by myself and having some fun I always have the ACC on sport mode but when I feel like driving more sensibly or have my children & family in the car I put it in comfort mode.  Perfect for every occasion, so highly recommended.

Absolutely love this feature on my GTD.

Comfort mode makes the ride on 19s feel like its on 17s and sports mode really livens it up!

Oh right sound m8. Soz about the late reply computer been messing about.
Yeah it sounds good. What are the Gti's set on without the ACC. Is it comfort or normal? I haven't seen one for sale with ACC. Any Kool tips or tricks with the gti?

On a car without ACC, Normal would be the default setting, but with ACC Normal mode is a bit different as it's constantly monitoring and adjusting to the driving style, so it's more 'intelligent' than standard setting on a car without it.
