Title: Dump valve removal
Post by: Mdwalshy on 17 May 2013, 09:00
Hi all new to the forum. I have recently bought a mk4 golf gti which has a dump valve I was wondering what original parts I need to remove this.

Many thanks
Mike.

Morning!  It's actually meant to have a recirculating valve.  Do you know what make has been fitted?  Hopefully it's a Forge which is good, if so, you can safely leave it be.  If it's some chavvy piece of rubbish either pick up a cheap OEM valve from VW, or but a forge 007p and pop that in instead.

Morning , thanks for the reply.

It's a baileys , which is annoying every time I change gear :-) I would prefer the recirc valve just so they is no noise on gear change. Once I got the recirc valve would I not need any other parts? There is a blanking plug on a pipe at the back of the engine.

Welcome..No you dont ..just take blanking plug out and connect recirculating valve in and all pipes. I have a original bosch recirculating valve lying around.

Best bet get a forge 007 or 008 tho  and get silicone pipe for the top vacum pipe on the valve

you could pick up an OEM recirc valve for practically nothing, or someone might be nice enough to just let you have one.  It's worth picking up a 007p though if you can, probably don't cost much on eBay these days.

Thanks for the advice :-)

I will probably just stick with the OEM one for now, I will get on ebay and see what I can find.

Thanks
Mike.

They are being sold on fleabay for ridiculous amounts second hand. If you want a forge one you might aswell buy a new one because people seem to try and sell them for stupid money on there, robbing c**ts . I'm looking for one myself but am not prepared to pay the money they are asking. But then again, I am a tight arse

I'm only after a standard OEM one for now might upgrade to a forge one in the future. Can't find any on the bay but will keep looking and hopefully one will come up :-).

You might need the return pipe that goes back to the metal charge pipe too. Best to get a photo up and we can advise accordingly

if youre mapped up and running more boost then i wouldn`t use an OEM one either.
i`m getting loud dump noise from my 007p due to using a cone filter. reason being im using a silicone tip for and audi S3 and can`t fit my airbox for the time being..
the dump noise doenst really bother me but i dont like it when heads turn either...lol

Problem is NO ONE in new zealand things agu is tunable. They can only tune aftermarket. I reckon soon as i find some one to map my GTi it will be sweet

My gti is totally standard apart from the dump valve thats why i would just stick to an OEM recirc valve and 18 inch alloys which either need changing for smaller ones or lowering a tad, don't like gaps in the arch :-)

Here is a picture of my engine bay, you can see the dump valve at the front then the pipe which has been blanked off at the back.

You need to replace the T- piece with the dump valve with a solid one or better get a new pipe that aint been cut. Then you need the standard rubber pipe at the top this goes from the pipe in the middle to your standard valve. Then the other side of that plugs into the airbox pipe

I'd be lazy, put new Recirc DV in current location and buy some 25mm vacuum hosing of fleebay and run it back to where it was. Considering most people especially in the states get wet between the legs to have their DV in that location or fork out ridiculous amounts of money for a forge DV relocation kit, when all you needed was a T-piece to begin with and save a hell lot of money.

Thanks for the tip , I'm new to VW so not to sure on where everything should be standard but I will have a look on the bay and get some vacuum hose and figure it out.
