Okay I've stripped my carpets out to do a bit of welding to my floor under the driver seat and all of my sound deadening is ruined with water, I'm pretty sure it's not the door membranes or seals because there's no wet or dampness around these areas and it can't be from rust under the windscreen because I had that out and welded last summer, can anyone help its very annoying and I'm worried it might cause my driver floor.
It's a 91 8v gti

This has been covered before so a search should give you a lot of options. If you've eliminated the things you mentioned I'd check the scuttle area next, around the ecu and grommets. Oh, also drainage pipes from sunroof.
Also, try just sitting in the car whilst it's raining or someone sprays a hose over the car, if you're lucky you'll see where the water's coming from.

Still could be door membranes. That sound deadening takes months to dry out if at all.
As above, sit in car but with door card off whilst someone soaks the door aswell as the other bits mentioned.

Problem solved, know how the hole under the ecu for the left hand drive heater intake well the seal on the blank plate was broken
