Post by: luke300586 on 14 May 2013, 20:47
My mk4 TDI has just failed its mot on a fault with the SRS airbag light,

When i turn the ignition on the light(amber light - person on a chair with the airbag deployed) stays on for a couple of seconds then flashes a few times

Does anyone know what this fault could be?

Thanks in advance

It could be the seats or the steering wheel airbag, you need to get it scanned with a proper version of VAG COM to find out where to start. The seats are usually the plug getting dislodged when moving the seats or someone shoving their feet too far under

Mine flashed aswell...my fault was the passenger airbag was deactivated...this can be reactivated via VAGCOM...I reactivated mine. Are you anywhere near Dorset...I can check for you if you are.

i would consider taking it back to the mot centre and explain to them that its not a fault. the light doesnt stay on, it just flashes a few times.. it`s deactivated because you had a rear facing baby seat in the front
or just reactivate it with vag-com.

^^Spot on, it is not staying on so should pass.
