Title: Sound Deadening
Post by: jcorn16v on 14 May 2013, 15:51
All my sound proofing under the carpet is pretty damp, is VW heritage the best place to get it from or does anyone else know of any place where you can get better and cheaper? Might need carpet too.

Thanks

For carpets see these guys...

For stick on sound deadening Silent coat is popular and is enough to do the whole car.

You still need a lot of padding on the floors which newton supply. Just pray your floors have not rusted through.

I used the standard latex backed underlay from Coverdale, think it was cheaper on their website rather than from them on Ebay. 2m was enough to do the floors on mine but see below about the bulkhead.

Worth noting though that the existing sound deadening on the bulkhead is much thicker and heavier than that on the floors so worth keeping that if it isn't ruined. Similarly the section on the transmission tunnel is heavier and hopefully can be kept as well.

Been stood for three years out side with leaky sunroof. Keeping my finger crossed!

Thanks for the replies.
