Hey folks,
Was wondering if anyone could help, ABS/Traction control lights are permanently on now, took it to the garage and it came up with Driver side ABS sensor out. I only had a new one 9 months ago, however the vagcom stated this as the culprit. So the lad changed it and the lights are still on and the same fault code is coming up. I've heard this is quite a common issue so was wondering if anyone has had the same issue and what you did to get it sorted? Ive got a pic of my dash, cant seem to upload it tho

Many thanks in advance

Sorry, ooops, its a 2002 Golf GT TDi PD 150

Could be the loom going into the sensor itself. They tend to chafe giving you an error

the repair looms are about £20 from VW, quite a common fault i do a fair few of them. What fault code are you getting? there are a handful of different ones for the abs sensors and they can mean different things.

Hey mate,
Checked with the lad who did it and the error code was ABS sensor - Short. I'll post the exact code when I go round and hook it back up on Friday. My mate said he checked the loom going into the engine bay and it looked ok? For 4 yrs I've had an intermittent issue where the lights would come on but then disappear when you turn the engine off and back on but since last week it has permanently been on :-(

the looms break in the little rubber grommets that clip in to the brackets on the shock, you can't check it visually. If you wanted to be 100% then you have to get the abs module plug off and start checking continuity. 1 person watching the multimeter and one twisting the wires.

The top of the shock is where it looks like the abs wires come into the engine bay and looks like a botch up done before as it is full of masking tape?

Doesn't the ground by battery and under airbox through up the abs fault, I remember fitting a CAI kit and the ground came loose and threw up the abs light?

Hi Peeps,
I've finally bought a code reader and have the following code:
00285 - ABS Wheel Speed Signal #2 (Right Front) - Range/Performance-G45
It stated 17664 but can't find what this is for?
I've replaced the ABS sensor twice in the last 12 months so I'm pretty sure it isn't this?
