Hii there looking to buy a golf still havent got one since i signed up ended up buying a 206 gti, now very bored of the french piece of **** lol
I have found a 5 dooor which i like, it is cheap.. but 1999 and 140k miles probably justifys the price

Im in mid process of speaking with the dealer to find out more about it i dont know anything as yet
But what do you all think and what should i look out for

Avoid the 2.0 like the plague, go for a 1.8T if you can. Even the 1.8 n/a is a better engine that the 2.0.
That one looks a bit of a dog to me, the interior is an absolute mess! Plus at £1250 for a 2.0 with 140k I don't think it's particularly cheap!

Ahh i see, i was mostly only looking for the 2.0 because thinking if it has turbo, it has more to be serviced/go wrong is what theory i went on lol
I would bid it down i wouldnt ever pay the asking price more like 1050 straight away.. thats without test driven, seen any of it yet or heard! I agree interior is abit tatty! would you still say for a 1000 its not worth it ??
Maybe ill scrap that look for another one then with the 1.8t engine start again!

If you can get insured on it then look for a 1.8t.
I wouldn't give £500 for the one you linked to above, let alone £1k :whistle:

aye advice taken, will search for a 1.8t im with greenlight insurance so not a problem :P
