Title: help needed please
Post by: lee1989 on 13 May 2013, 12:44
hi guys new here and new to golfs, bought a 2001 2.0 a few weeks ago and had a few problems with it running, so connected it to d900 obd2 reader to read the codes and clear them to see which ones would come back up, but none did. car was running well for a bit now problems started again, so connected obd2 reader again but now it wont establish a connection with the car any ideas why? any help appreciated thanks

what problems are you experiencing?

some code readers are hit and miss, literally, take it you had the ignition on 1 click?

struggles to start in the morning, chucks a lot of smoke out of the exhaust, hesitates under acceleration think that's about it lol

Yeah, they can sometimes block communication. It'd be worth unplugging the head unit and scanning again.

most advice you get on here is the correct advice, just taking the radio out while you scan should suffice.
if that doesnt work then perhaps its your scanner.
vag-com is your best bet rather than one of these cheap handheld things..
