Title: First couple holiday
Post by: Chris#101 on 12 May 2013, 19:36
Alright guys and girls. Just after some advice really.

Me and her indoors are thinking about going on our first holiday away on our own this year. Im 21 and she's 19

I haven't been abroad for a number of years and when I did the parental s paid for it all so has come as a bit of a shock how much some destinations are going to cost.

A few things we've decided on

duration: 14 nights
Board basis : all inclusive
Cost: upto £800 pp +£200 spending money
Destination : not fussed, anywhere hot with beach near by.
Date :15/07/14 +/-2days

We've already been to a number of travel agents who have found plenty of destinations such as Tunisia, Egypt, Lanzarote etc that all fit into the details above. Although I felt maybe as if they caught onto the fact we are both pretty clueless with it being our first holiday and were just trying to sell what ever they had left so to speak.

I'm aware you can get very good deals on last minute hobbies? But is this to risky being a first holiday away? Obviously if I can save money brilliant news I can spend it on the golf

Any good couple destinations?
Any good online websites?
Last minute deal or book in advance?

Thanks for any input

i was in same boat last year pal.

we went to salou spain...i know it abit common and basic obvious choice but it was what you asking for

the hotels are all 10-20 mins MAX slow walk to beach. has good local night life stuff nothing like mega clubs or out. through day has markets and town center. bus route to barcelona, reus, etc. beaches are HUGE and long and sea spot on. plenty of wate rstuff.

food was usual buffet but sh!t loads to choose from. we went early sept 2012 and we got 30-35c every day and was lovley. and price wise in your budget but if wnat more chilled out not as mcuh hussle and bussle on a night i can highly reccomend

golden taurus park

consistant good feedback and been there plus famliy have and always bee 100% and beach is literally across the road

Have a look on Direct Holidays mate, we went to Fuertaventura last year AI and it was properly chilled but they do loads of places well within your budget, also try Jet2 Holidays we're off to Portugal in a couple if weeks, thats costing £600 PP AI, in a 4 star hotel right between old and new town.

as above, personally ide go 10/11 nights.

by that time you just want your own bed.

plus the amount you save on cutting it short by those 3 nights is quite alot.

cant really comment on couples holiday cause ive always gone away with mates instead of the misses
however iscmeller (sp?) in turkey is nice, would defanitly go there if i was looking for a couples holiday. usual turkish sh!t though, they all start talking to the girls and telling them there pretty and stuff. as im sure youve all heard/experienced

Dont go to Lanzarote, (lanzagrote)

Tenerife is good for couples, plenty to do and great nightlife. Also no Time Difference.
As others have said 10 days will be better.
Could try Las Piramedes in Las Americas.

If you are prepared to do night flights that will save you a bit.

TT starts soon.  A week of practice and a week of racing.  Two weeks on the Isle of Man, great fun.
Or try Cuba.

Try travel republic pretty good deals on there, I agree with Len give Lazarote a miss been there twice & Tenerife twice Tenerife is much better as much more to do although off to fuerteventura in July that was £500pp all inclusive you can do it cheaper but I don't like cheap & nasty plus like good flight times.

I've only ever been on fortnight  holidays before with the parents abroad and always thought a week is to short. Besides me and my girlfriend live together so it's nothing new. There haha

What is the general consent!? Book in advance or last minute deal?

Take a chance, last minute holiday.

When I say last minute, I mean like book it a week or 2 weeks before you have your time off work, not 1 hour

Only problem with last minute is you will get rubbish flight times which means you will lose a day of your holiday.
But its probably the cheapest.

Besides me and my girlfriend live together so it's nothing new.

First couple holiday is always a good test even if you live together as spending 24hrs a day for 7 days can be too much for some couples
