Afternoon all ,just a visit from the dark side lol,i still have a few bits left from my old mk3 (having a shed clearout),but what i was wondering was does anyone have the covers on the back of there rear lights like these

just wanted to ask as never had them on any of the other sets i've had ,cheers brett

Can take some better pics if you want,only thing wrong with them ,is while stored at my mates someone knocked one of them and must of put it back without saying anything because if you look carefully the light on the right hand side is missing the bottom stud grrrr

I've got two sets both with the covers. Came off early VR6's.

Got them on mine
Early GTI rear light covers, its coz early cars have no carpet in the boot and just some sh!te foam
iv since fitted the carped but also kept these covers on too

my 93 1.4 had them
and every pair of gti rears ive owned.
thought they were normal?

I'm curious as to whether the original poster meant=: has anyone ever seen covers on the mk3 lights, or of that particular style?
Reason I ask is the '93/4 donor golf I have has covers but I didn't think they looked exactly like those in the picture, but my '97 had no covers at all (so I figured one of the original owners had lost them from it when I discovered the covers on the '93/4 cars lights).
The cover and rear lights are now on the '97 of course.

I meant the bulb covers as had honestly not seen them before lol

Fair enough :) In my own case due to ill health I had to leave my car interior bits in pieces for ages, and when I got back to it and saw them in the donor car I wondered what on earth I'd done with my own. Then slowly I realised I'd never seen such things before and figured the owner before the person I'd bought it form must have fiddled with it (after all, they at some point removed all the airbag crash sensors!). Then today the mystery is solved, the 1.9 obv. never had them before (but has now ;)).
So of course I didn't really think that maybe they were only on certain models. Mind you between my 1.4 CL golf and my '97 1.9 CL I seem to have managed quite well:
The 1.9 gear stick gator is a rubber moulded gator with an imprinted pattern of leather. The 1.4 was genuine leather.
The 1.4 had the bubbly rubber rear wing covers, the 1.9 had black carpet.
The 1.4 had a black boot carpet, the 1.9 had a sort of firm stiff fabric.
The 1.4 had a rear ash tray light in it, not so the 1.9
The 1.4 had those rear light covers you asked about ;)
etc etc etc.
