So I know I need 16v hubs to run these. I know where I can get the hubs off a seat gti 8v and was wondering whether they have the 280 brakes or is it just abf seats that have these?
-
i had a seat gti 8v that had 256mm brakes, but upgraded to 280s without having to change hub. hope that helps
-
Yeah that's what I needed to know cheers.
So the 256 hubs would be worth having as I all ready have calipers and then is it just discs and pads from a 280mm car?
-
yeah thats right , the hubs will take the caliper. just get some 280 discs like you said.
-
You need 280mm carriers also

This.
Been down Stag Lane then?
Early G3 GTIs have 280mm fronts IIRC. So hubs and calipers off the Seat, carriers off an early G3 GTI.
Check the diameter of the Seat brakes first though - they fitted bigger brakes to some of the later stuff - you *may* get lucky.
Don't forget to replace your master cylinder with a 22mm one, too.

Yes stag lane  I compared them to the golf 3 gti up there and they looked different that's why I was hoping they d be 280. It was a p reg gti 8v
I got given some 280 calipers from a mk4 diesel with carriers so hopeing they'd fit.
Suppose I could just get the lot and go 256 for a bit. The 239 are pants

239s are just terrible.
Golf3 changeover year is 1995 going from 280-288mm fronts. Beavis says so, so it's probably right.
