Since owning my Golf it has been spot on in terms of its running performance however most recently on occasion the car starts to become very hesitant when applying power. This seems to clear once I clear it's throat and then normal operation is resumed.
Anyone know what could be the cause here?
Car is due it's 80,000mile service soon so I'm gathering up all the bits to complete that shortly.

Ive had a similar problem.
It turned out to be a coil pack.

is there anything that can be done to test the coil pack?

Get on vagcom and scan for fault codes first

They don't always show up as a fault code. Just a bit spluttery and hesitant.
I remapped mine and the fault came up as it started running even worse. It came up as cylinder 2 misfire.
The cheapo OBD reader on ebay for a tenner may do the trick. It worked on mine.
It happened again a few days later so I changed all 4.
So far so good.
