Right got a 2001.... bod standardsingle cd player with tape deck control at bottom never had an issue untill burnt a cd popped it in and came up with magazine error ......so re did disk. Did same again. Thought ok is it cos it in mp3 format i converted it and did again didnt work. Thinking cd player packed up tried my old copy cd in works as should. Tried new cd no luck. But then while at my dads today he owns a 52 plate gtdi his same cd player set up abd his works all cds fine but what i noticed was his tapedeck was slighly dufferent it doesnt have removrable bottom buttons with safe behind it like mine. Never knew there was different kits. Any ideas on this....faulty or am i missing summit here

It could be how the disc was burnt. Ive tried a couple on my new laptop and they didnt work in the car but tried some id done on my pc and they worked fine.
-
i thought this but why would they work all ok on my dads mk4? slightly different model head unit but still oem
-
It could be the laser reader in the unit is different. I know some that ive burnt will play in our stereo downstairs but then not in my sons in his room.

hmmmmmmmmm just really odd my other copied and original disks all work ok
-
Have you burnt them the same way? Are they on the same discs?
-
They on same make of disk branded too. Done in mp3 amd wma same as over disks whixh work. Might try a different disk brand
-
I don't think it'll hurt

Still playing up used nero slower speed different make of cd. But still no issue on parents mk4 and other copied disks work fine

MK4 stereos could never play MP3's

I thought this but i also changed the format to wma and still no go.
The cd witg mp3 on it works fine in my dads mk4 but whats odd is my dad tape deck section is slightly different the button feel completley different and it doesnt have a removable "SAFE" panel. But as tge cds dont play in this unit cant see why it differs
