Title: 2.0 gti temp sender into 1.8t
Post by: welshdean on 06 May 2013, 09:19
I've had my 1.8t put onto a vagcom and it came up with a fault code for temp sender. Before it was scanned the temp gauge  sat at one notch below 90, and since the codes were cleared its now sitting at 90 .
This could be one or two things, either the sensor was replaced but faults weren't cleared at the time or it will return back to normal in a couple of days due to the vagcom only temporarily erasing them.

As I'm looking to sell my 2.0 gti in the next day or two, I was wondering if I should swap the temp sender over to my 1.8t

But I'm not sure if it would be suitable from the one car to the other, could anybody shed some light on this please?

Take them both out and see they are the same. Far as i know there was 2 types only used across mk4 platform. . If they are the same then no harm in testing it out. Could be thermostat too.
