I had an oil leak on my mk5 a few years back after it'd been serviced by my local dealer, turns out they'd threaded the new sump plug when they put it in! Numpties! ::)

Mate I feel for you, looks like you got a Friday afternoon car like the wife's cab.

Cheers guys. Indeed, definitely a Friday afternoon car! So I'm thinking about what to order for delivery on a '14 plate

I'd like a Mk7 or new S3 but I think I need to move away from Volkswagen and Audi as I haven't had the best experience with my last 2 cars lol.

Just took the car in. They said the sump has corroded around the plug which is letting the oil seep out. The car is only just over a year old.

Sump rusted through in a year. That's a worry.
I just did our ibiza and its 7 years old and I thought that was bad!
The question is, is it from the inside out or outside in.
Was it caused by the paint been damaged due to speed hump etc or just as its thin tin!

It's been fixed now. I'm afraid I forgot to ask for pics or to see the old sump, as I've really busy with other things. I haven't smacked the sump off anything, unlike my Audi which was much lower, and that took a right beating and was OK. Car just hit 10,000 miles this week. 14 1/2 months old. I'm guessing there wasn't any obvious damage otherwise they would have refused to do it as warranty work.

Hope the new one lasts more than another 14 months.
