Title: Cam sensor 17748
Post by: DubAndDubber on 05 May 2013, 14:48
Since my remap at rtech I've had the 17748 fault code. I changed the cam sensor for a cheapy one to see if it would do the job.. It didn't.

I changed it again yesterday for an oe Bosch one. It threw up a code within minutes of going up the duals for a blast.

The car drives ok but you can sense a very small misfire now and again, so I wouldn't say the timings out.

Please help!

Have you checked the wiring to it? Have you had the cambelt done as could be a tooth out,

Haven't had cam belt done, if it was out wouldn't it drive like a right pig? Wiring seems ok.

Might be your wiring breaking down. Don't forget your car is 12 years old now.

Is it an intermittent fault on VAG COM?

I've had a little read on other forums and the main possibility seems to be the timing. I can't remember if the car had the code when I bought it. Which was well over a year ago.

I cleared 14 codes and it may have been one of them! It had the cambelt changed at 64,000. It's on 97k now so I might just get the belt done..

Well when I refitted my rebuilt lump I had the same code , ended up being a tooth out , I would check the first and then wiring, It ran ok ,
