I love Chris Harris car reviews, he talks such sense. I cant believe he said don't bother with the performance pack. That was a shock...

Take the base three-door for £25,845, keep the cloth, the brilliant £525 Dynaudio hi-fi system and the dampers and leave it at that. Not once did I find myself exiting a second gear turn and wishing the car had a locking differential over the ESP-based cheat it offers as standard - maybe on a track I might, but who actually uses a new GTI as a regular track tool?

I like him too. Knows his stuff alright.

Was a big shock to hear he'd be quite happy to leave the LSD off. I would have expected him to say at whatever cost you must spec the PP.

Refreshing and great news for the non-PP boys.

Underpins the very thoughts I had around the PP before falling into the trap ;)  Thankfully I was able to climb out of it relatively unscathed!

Love the reviews from Chris. Really knows what he is talking about but i'm surprised he is saying forget the LSD. I'm sure there will be a video review from him soon and it will be interesting to see if he drove both and how they compared.

Personally for £980 i think its a bargain getting a LSD and bigger brakes. If the price differential had been £'000s then that would have been different.

Harris is one of the best motoring journalists out there...

I was quite surprised about the Performance Pack too... I'd probably have it if i was ordering.

Can you do us a favour please guys? Any reviews you find, drop them in the review sticky please, that way they all stay in one place and don't get reposted too much. :afro:

Incidentally, this one has already been posted in the sticky.
