Been doing a lot of macro work over the last week after finding my macro lens that got lost in the house move.
Here's on from today:

That is one a beaut. Nice capture.

Macro lens is something I've not had a chance to have a razz with yet.
It's second on the wishlist, after a certain fisheye at the moment.
-
Get a Raynox DCR 250 and put it on a telephoto lens, that's what this is done with.

Another ant:

Canon 5D mk3, 100mm F/2.8L IS USM Lens, hand held, cropped a bit. The flying ones are on FLICKR I was chasing the hoverfly around the garden.

The flying ones are pretty impressive. That one ^ he kinda blends into the rock a bit too much.

Hard working trying to get a focus lock before it moved slightly, it was quite a challenge. It did seem to sit an hover for a while in a fixed place, although whenever I moved to get closer it zipped around.

Have you tried using a flash? All mine are shot with a flash and a small softbox/diffuser

Occasionally, I have an EX430 II when the lavender in my front garden comes out the Bee's make fantastic photography as they are more stationary. I think my neighbour thinks I am weird sticking this giant camera lens and inch or two away from a Bee.
-
Yeah the must think the same of me, I use the 70-200L and a 430EXII with a soft box velcroed on.
It's quite a heavy setup, have to shoot handheld as bugs don't stay still for long!
-
I had a quick go at this earlier.
I probably could have done with a deeper DOF.

What setup are you using to do that?

600D with an EF to FD macro converter and an FTQL 50mm 1.8.
