Title: May 1st Price increase, did it happen ?
Post by: Sootchucker on 02 May 2013, 08:24
Anyone know if the May 1st price increase happened ? Went onto the VW website and the price list is still the 1st April 2013 one. Was hoping some of the newer options like climate windscreen etc would have appeared ?

It doesn't look the price increased on 1st of May even though that was what was expected. I've been playing with the VW Configurator app and the prices for both the GTI and GTD  haven't changed. I did spec a 50s Beetle just for fun and when I went back into that the price updated by just over 1% (probably rounding of the options to higher £5 did that).

Someone on here mentioned that their dealer told them since the GTI and GTD have only just started to take orders and are not "on sale" yet they wouldn't be increasing the price for these two models, which sounds like common sense to me.

In this case are the dealers who have been saying "order soon before the price hike" going to apologise to us for making a mistake?

I might quiz mine about why the price rise they promised hasn't happened.

Also, presumably this means we can all still play about with options changes if needed as it won't trigger a repricing! yay!

it wouldn't have triggered a repricing anyway.

Prices have increased on the VW website now, acc is now 800 quid, sunroof has gone up and price of cars is up.

Source?  I'm pretty sure the consensus is it would.

I've just done a quick config and only thing I can see that's gone up of any interest is the ACC to £800.  Price of the car seems to be the same.  Indeed, the new price is the exactly the same as the old one for my spec - not that it would have mattered if it had gone up as pre 1st May orders were price fixed.

Website is updating slowly. if you look at the business customer tab all the prices have increased. some of the options have already increased for personal customers so I reckon by the end of the day or tomorrow all the prices will have been amended. My dealer has said that even if I change my order now it categorically will not cause a full reprice of the car. the car Is ordered and in the system. if any dealers try to tell you otherwise then complain as it shouldn't!

As we all know, price increases did happen, but we got conflicting information about what charges apply if you change your specification after this date.

I spoke to my dealer this morning to remove a couple of options and add one in their place, and expressed my displeasure at possibly having to absorb a £300 increase for the privilege.  Anyway, I just got a call from my dealer, and they are making the changes are per my request and the old pricing for the existing car and options still stand.

By default, the system is setup to re-price the entire car.  However, at their discretion, head office can override the re-pricing.  If you feel you want to change your mind on something but are worried about it costing, it can't hurt to ask and explain you are aware that others have been able to without any increase.

Yeah I'm not sure this price refresh was a flat 1% increase  across the board.

There was nothing "flat" about the increases. ACC went up £5 (0.6%), white paint went up £50 (25%), Metallic paint went up £25 (5%), and lots of stuff in between went up by various increments. The GTI and GTD didn't increase in price but I don't know if the lesser models did.
