I like the idea but the composition does nothing for me.

Nah, the composition sucks, first attempt and all that. It is a variable ND filter, 2-9 stops, £8 eBay jobby.

Did you have a hood on? there is a lot of light at the edges of the picture? It doesn't seem blotchy at all, which is what the cheap variable ND filters are supposed to do.  I was considering one, need a 77mm and 82mm though.
