I've seen a few posts around where folks have sanded back some net optic trim panels to go for a brushed alloy look, I was just wondering if it was plastic or alloy under the god awful walnut effect before I attacked it.....

Almost sure it's plastic
-
nope definatly metal, if your gonna take them off then be warned the little clips on the cage are fecked before the car was assembled, they'll flake as soon you go near it with a philips, tread carefully my young padaone
-
So u take the wood of then its a nice smootg metal
-
possibly but i dont think anyone has actually tried if im honest with you, most either carbon wrap or something along those lines
-
Dosent the r32 have metal fascia surrounds instead of the jaguar wood effect
-
yes it does, you'll need to do alot of sanding to show the metal on the wood effect units, can be done i suppose, i'd suggest buying a bit of trim online and trying it out on that though

Wood trim definitely does not sand down to metal like net optic.

well there you go, i do know its metal though as i have had them off

Just wrap the trim mate. Cheaper and less hassle sanding boll ocks of it

Make sure it's 3M stuff that you use though, I've wrapped my trim 3 times now...
First time using 3M carbon which was very easy to use and looked good. I got bored so wrapped it with 3M brushed aluminium which again was good, but I got bored again and rewrapped it in carbon but this time cheap stuff. It was harder to work with and has started lifting from the trim within a couple of months.

Iirc it's only the edge of the stereo surrounds (the long sides) that are metal everything else is plastic
-
Fair enough, they still won't rub down like net optic ones.
-
nope but you can give them a shot lol i only ment te sides, i snapped the little fecking climatronic one once
-
I think ill probably end up spraying them to be honest
