Dannyboi, have you thought about how you will badge it up? Will you keep the 16v badges so everyone knows its originally a rare 16v anni? or will you debadge it as it will no longer be a 16v??? This would be a big dilemma for me!!!

Would not be an issue if you stuck the 2.0 16v TSI in, could keep the anni badges on.

What would be the point of leaving the badges on, it being badged as a 16v is as bad as people who put VR6 badges on a 1.4CL's

First off, Danny, you're a thingy! I wanted to do this and had my sights on target to do it!

Second, why not take the 16V badges on and just get the GTI badges off of the 8v Anni like mine?
Title: Re: Conversion time
Post by: Leroy on 15 May 2013, 15:47
Cus everyone will think its an 8v Anni then??? I given it much thought and think if it was me, I would get a red "T" off a mk4 tdi and stick that next to the original badges. Then you retain the exclusivity of having a 16v Anni but its clear its been turboed.

That's a rubbish idea.  The letters on the MK4 look too modern for the MK3.

What's wrong with the red GTI badge? It doesn't state it's an 8v and people don't know it's an 8v. Similar can be said for the 1.8T MK4, it just has GTI written on the back, I'll be honest, I don't even know how to tell the difference between a T and a 2.0 (if there is any).
Title: Re: Conversion time
Post by: tweed on 15 May 2013, 17:07
No badge

any person looking at it or sees it in action that knows a thing or two about vw's will know its a 20v. So why even bother with a badge to start with.
Title: Re: Conversion time
Post by: hobbiniho on 15 May 2013, 17:35
^^ what he said, the kind of people that look to see if its badger right are the people that will know what they are looking at especially when they spy the intercooler and when it makes a pshhht noise on gearchange

End of the day as soon as you change the engine and modify the car it will no longer be an Anni.  I would

have (cash permitting of course) maintained the Anni in its glory and bought a cheap good condition mk3 and

put the 1.8T in that

I have exactly the same car as you (16v 4 door Mystic Blue anni), however I am missing the front 16v badge, so if it makes you feel better you could sell the badge to me so you know the 16v badge will be going onto another original anni lol

Hey Dannyboi, apologies as this thread was originally about your conversion before we got onto the subject about badges!!!

But just goes to show how controversial a little thing like that is. And isn't it good how passionate we all are about our mk3's!!!

Can't wait to see/hear the beast in action!!!
