So just picked my mk4 golf 1.8t chuffed as engines coming out 2moz ready for full rebuild then its goin in the anni so let the fun begin
-
1.8t anni !
-
init was expecting some stick as dunno if that counts as killin another 16v anni lol
-
Id say its enhancing it as the engine is not what an anni is about.
-
agreed glad you said that coz I thought the same lol
-
How else is the old mk3 gona keep up with modern day traffic
-
u no it lol I will miss the 16v lump but I need a turbo and this anni took long enuf to find so why not av the best of both worlds
-
What's wrong with the 16v?
Want to sell it to me?
-
nuffin wrong wiv the engine mate just really fancy a 1.8t dropped in lol I blame cja's build thread

Will be a little while as gotta rebuild the 1.8 and get the other bits I need but u will have 1st refusal
-
Dannyboi, have you thought about how you will badge it up? Will you keep the 16v badges so everyone knows its originally a rare 16v anni? or will you debadge it as it will no longer be a 16v??? This would be a big dilemma for me!!!
-
Funny enuf I was havin this convo this mornin it's a tuffy lol

Would not be an issue if you stuck the 2.0 16v TSI in, could keep the anni badges on.
Get your cutting torch out
-
Lol that would nice

What would be the point of leaving the badges on, it being badged as a 16v is as bad as people who put VR6 badges on a 1.4CL's
-
Very true lol
-
I would leave them on and surprise people when they think they're racing a 150bhp abf
-
My mate said that aswell lol well gd news the the 1.8T is out rebuild time and loom out not so fun
-

-
well the 1.8 t came out the other day so guna rebuild it then make a start lol getting scared tho loool
-
just leave badges as they were from factory, mine is badged up as a GTI still, but is packing 350 BHP
its more fun when people think its just a tidy 8 Valver
-
I'll deffo be leaving the red gti badges on but 16v are going
-
well payday is here and conversion time begins :) will keep my thread updated

Na, keep the 16v badge
-
Liking the sound of this and your local too , thinking of going down the 1.8t route this winter too with my mystic blue 3 door, thatll be two mystic blue mk3 1.8t's in the herts, beds and bucks area
-
no that well should be starting this week guna be some late nights
-
find or modify a nice red 20v badge :) wud be in keeping with the appearance and engine :)
-
First off, Danny, you're a thingy! I wanted to do this and had my sights on target to do it!
Second, why not take the 16V badges on and just get the GTI badges off of the 8v Anni like mine?
-
Cus everyone will think its an 8v Anni then??? I given it much thought and think if it was me, I would get a red "T" off a mk4 tdi and stick that next to the original badges. Then you retain the exclusivity of having a 16v Anni but its clear its been turboed.

That's a rubbish idea. The letters on the MK4 look too modern for the MK3.
What's wrong with the red GTI badge? It doesn't state it's an 8v and people don't know it's an 8v. Similar can be said for the 1.8T MK4, it just has GTI written on the back, I'll be honest, I don't even know how to tell the difference between a T and a 2.0 (if there is any).
-
No badge
any person looking at it or sees it in action that knows a thing or two about vw's will know its a 20v. So why even bother with a badge to start with.
-
^^ what he said, the kind of people that look to see if its badger right are the people that will know what they are looking at especially when they spy the intercooler and when it makes a pshhht noise on gearchange

Thingy?? Wtf is that!
-
End of the day as soon as you change the engine and modify the car it will no longer be an Anni. I would
have (cash permitting of course) maintained the Anni in its glory and bought a cheap good condition mk3 and
put the 1.8T in that

as above wtf is a thingy lol and 16v badges are comin off and the red gti badge back and front are staying as it still will be a gti just faster lol  and in my eyes this b!tch will always be a anniversary
-
i kinda wanted to get a TT badge and modify the gti badge to say gTTi but changed my mind as i wouldnt be able to do the ones on the side mouldings so wouldnt match

Thingy is Golf GTi Forum's safe word for c u n t.
Glad you are going red GTI badge front and rear, that's the best route to take in my opinion.
-
Oh I see
-
thanks im deffo a thingy then  but I'll be a thingy wiv a mk3 anniversary turbo lol and as said in previous replies the anni weren't about the the engine
-
I have exactly the same car as you (16v 4 door Mystic Blue anni), however I am missing the front 16v badge, so if it makes you feel better you could sell the badge to me so you know the 16v badge will be going onto another original anni lol
-
Mate ill be buyin new u can av um lol
-
Hey Dannyboi, apologies as this thread was originally about your conversion before we got onto the subject about badges!!!
But just goes to show how controversial a little thing like that is. And isn't it good how passionate we all are about our mk3's!!!
Can't wait to see/hear the beast in action!!!
-
Same ere mate lol gonna be sick lol
-
