Title: roof plastic strips
Post by: danmusic24 on 28 April 2013, 12:49
do those strips just pull out from roof? is there any clips under there that are likely to break or just pull off and press back in?   (the strips where the roof rack goes)

Yes they pull off, a wiggle action tends to reduce the number of snapped clips (they do snap easily though-might be best to buy some off ebay etc -in my case I had an entire other car to pinch some off). Those that stay on the car can be pried off with a small flat headed screwdriver fairly easily.

Putting it back on is a pain, need to get them lined up, and if they're not lined up properly enough (straight) when you try clipping the plastic trim back on then you can break the clip underneath, have the bits fall down where you don't want them to go and.....

The plastic itself has a metal channel on the other side in which the clips clip into.

Chief :)
