Title: 17" too big for MK3??
Post by: GOLF-MK3-GTI on 27 April 2013, 20:56
Seen some 17" wheels for my car, 17x7J et42. Bbs rs replicas. Will they look too big on a MK3? I'm going to buy some wheels in the future, so just looking what would suit it, and what would look daft lol

I had 17"s on mine all ok, needed a small amount of work to the arches for clearance on the rear.

16" is the better choice really, 17"s tend to suffer with tramlining etc.

I agree with this

i have 17x8 +35 on 205/40

i dont mind em and prefer them.

in Australia the legal ride height is 100mm and if you want a nice looking drop on 16's with a VR lip, the lip ends up about 50-60mm from the ground.

im dropped enough to be satisfied with the VR lip being around 90mm from the deck, close to legal but high enough to not smash it on everything (i do A LOT of driving for work).

17's with a lip always look smaller anyway but 18's are a no no.

yeh 17's should be alright as long as you dont go for rediculous width, i had these on my mk3 for a couple of weeks
