Title: Noise from central locking pump (video)
Post by: madsb on 26 April 2013, 13:43
I feel like nothing I change on this car "just works" hahah  see video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFLSFIs1jzE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFLSFIs1jzE)

So it seems that the pump works as the others door open too. Notice however, that I am unable to press down the lock on the drivers door again. I should be able to do that, right?

I haven't actually run it for longer than this, afraid that it's gonna blow up lol... I just pull the plug as in the video.

Any ideas?

Cheers.

mine was doing this! turned out to be somthing in one of the hoses preventing the pumpfrom thinking the lock was up so it kept pumping, it would eventual stop but f**ked the motor up in the end and i had to get a new pump

Yes check all the lines and don't forget the fuel filler flap is in the system too

also you say you changed it? was it the same part number to the one you changed there are loads of different ones and the earlyer ones have one pin less, the one less pin may do somthing, who knows

Same part number, same manufacturer. I believe that the pump is working perfectly, but as mentioned here it must be something with the lines...

willz you said something about something in one of the hoses? Could you specify?

tweed regarding the fuel filler flap I'm not entirely sure what you mean. Do you mean the cover that reveals the fuel cap? Does yours open electronically? - mine opens just by pressing on one side of it.

Anyway, checked the lines in the door connectors and they seem fine, which actually is annoying, as I could imagine that those were the most prone to splitting, which means I don't know where to look from now :p...

Any suggestions?

mines got a smoothed tailgate so the pipe that would have gone to the boot lock had somthing jammed in it causing the pump to keep pumping, and what tweed is saying is not to forget the vacum line going to that fuel flap as it locks when the car does, try pressing it to get it to open when the cars locked, you will have trouble getting it open

ah cool, didn't know about the fuel filler flap. anyway I just tried it again and just went around the doors listening. Right rear door is hissing so I guess I the source of the problem :). any suggestions regarding how exactly to fix it?

I had the exact same problem with the associated hissing from the door. There is a screw on conduit, from the door pillar into the door by the hinge, which carries electrics and air pipe. I simply tightened the connection where it meets the door pillar and this solved the problem!

I'm really not sure where you mean... Could you clarify?
