Title: Joey mod depos pictures !!!!
Post by: AD1.8T on 25 April 2013, 19:55
To cut a long story short one of my new depos arnt up to scratch the whole inside has been pushed forward resulting in a nasty gap at the projector end and chrome flaking !

So ive emailed them explaining ect but im just curious to anyone else experience with fk or more specifically broken/damaged headlights from them and what is there procedure ?

Just to add these were new out of the box TODAY!

To put it bluntly, they don't give a toss. Mine were straight out the box and the adjuster clips were broken. I sent them an email straight away with pictures and they got back to me saying it was my fault and they didn't want anything more to do with it.

I've sent several emails since to no avail. In the end I gave up and fixed them myself which I wasn't happy about.

Lesson learnt though for me. I will never buy from them again, strictly UK companies now. Sorry it doesn't reall help mate. Good luck.

Yeah good luck mate.

What is it that's actually wrong with them? You got a pic? Just so worst case we can see how easy they will be to put right. Now mine are on they do look great, massive improvement makes it look a bit more modern.

Quick tip aswell not all led side lights will fit. I had to buy a set which were about the same size as a normal 501 bulb.

Pictures for you all to see and possible confirm it will be a simple case of clip it in properly (i was planning on anni styling them anyway as there abit to blingy for my liking !)

Good headlight
Note the gap between the sidelight dish and the trim bit also the lack of gap on the projectors top left .....

Now the deffective one big gap at the top right of the projector no gap on sidelight bit and slight flaking/scuff where the projector touched the glass kind of bang on the middle of the picture ...

There you go mate pretty sure it will be a simple fix but obviously cant do anything untill i hear back from them ! The flaking chrome albeit tiny is what im most pissed off about !

Also i noticed just now my fogs dont work ?? Any ideas why? new bulbs and as far as im aware they worked before ? I havnt actually looked into it yet but theres a slight chance it could be because i stole the fuse for me heated seats lol

I bought the black ones rather than silver but ill try and get a picture tomorrow if I remember so you can compare what they look like. Luckily if you're going to Joey mod them I think you'll be able to put them together right, it doesn't look too hard to dissemble them.

The side light holes are tight on mine much tighter than on standards. One of my fogs doesn't work either I'm thinking its a grounding problem as all the grounds link back to high beam. The ground is crimped onto a metal peg so it's probably loose.

Post by: Hoggy on 25 April 2013, 22:46
Is it not a simple case that you need to manually adjust them with a phillips screwdriver on the back of the headlight? :)

Thus changing the gap sizes as the headlights will not yet be set?

Theres abit of hope theyve asked for the pictures so they can open up the claim so fingers crossed !

I did try that bud i turned it alot and nothing happened i have absolutly no doubt i can sort it but i cant do alot untill i hear back from them with whats happening, if the chrome wasnt flaking i wouldnt bother as ive got to strip them to joey them anyway !

Well theyve replied again very quickly which i was kinda shocked about, there willing to take them back as faulty but it was there last set so they cant replace them :( only refund, so ive asked for a partial refund and il attempt to fix them/ build them properly my self !
Title: Re: Returning stuff to fk experiences ?
Post by: brewey on 26 April 2013, 10:37
Wow good reply though even if it is bitter sweet. Good luck with the partial refund man. If they say no get a refund and find a uk company selling them I would.

It do they have the black ones in stock? Then no need to joey!
Title: Re: Returning stuff to fk experiences ?
Post by: AD1.8T on 26 April 2013, 10:52
All sorted they basically said is €40 ok but they worded it as if i was going to say no so i said call it €50 which is £42 they replied within minutes again and said thats ok it takes 3 days to appear back in your account !

I suppose if they would of took them back they would of lost out on the sale and had to pay £20 odd for the courier.

Na i wanted to get the chrome ones to joey them like the anni headlights rather than have all black, otherwise i would of kept my old headlights as i had abit of a soft spot for them for some reason lol

Now with the daunting task of ripping them apart tonight :/

Ahh i was just thinking about pming you ! Dont suppose if you remember if the part of my lights thats pushed forward is just clipped in ect ?
Title: Re: Returning stuff to fk experiences ?
Post by: Wazzzer on 26 April 2013, 17:27
They are kinda hinged on one bit as the headlight adjuster pivots them. Have a look inside with the backs off and the adjuster or blank taken out and see if it pivots ok
Title: Re: Returning stuff to fk experiences ?
Post by: AD1.8T on 26 April 2013, 17:33
Mwahhhaaahhhaaaaa :D basically theres 3 ball joints on the rear .... 2 connect to the adjuster thing and 1 stays fixed in place ..... 1 out of 3 was connected :D and the flakey chrome is 99% less visable !!!

Full of win as i also have £42 back in my pocket lol

Title: Re: Returning stuff to fk experiences ?
Post by: AD1.8T on 27 April 2013, 19:51
I havnt gone mad with them just given them a quick blast with what was left in the can they were all different shades of black where ive picked up like 3 bumpers with grills over the years and they all got muddled up lol
Title: Re: Returning stuff to fk experiences ?
Post by: Wazzzer on 27 April 2013, 19:52
just tidied the glue up mate. I don't think I'd be done now if I was picking it all off lol

Oh and make sure you spray the backs of the surrounds black as well, it's surprising what you can see is still sliver when the lights are back together
Title: Re: Returning stuff to fk experiences ?
Post by: AD1.8T on 27 April 2013, 20:05
Ive covered them entirely mate used the best part of 350ml i reckon!! Cant wait to get them back together although i did accidently partially round one of the adjuster allen key bits :/
Title: Re: Returning stuff to fk experiences ?
Post by: brewey on 27 April 2013, 22:22
If you get stuck just epoxy resin a bolt to the top of the adjuster and you can adjust it with a socket instead.

Good job mate, I like what you've done. It was a tough decision for me to go all black, especially when I kept looking at Wazzers build thread. But in the end I think Indigo blue quite suits the all black ones, that and I couldn't be bothered to take them apart to Joey them.
Title: Re: Joey mod depos pictures !!!!
Post by: AD1.8T on 28 April 2013, 16:09
Yeah the all blacks suit the darker cars but there abit much on silver imo !
Title: Re: Joey mod depos pictures !!!!
Post by: brewey on 28 April 2013, 16:14
It would look a bit like your car had two black eyes I'll give you that. The black grills set the front off nicely though.

Il be honest i was never keen on the black grills when i had my silver with black badge on now i cant go back the silver just looks wrong lol
Title: Re: Joey mod depos pictures !!!!
Post by: brewey on 28 April 2013, 17:04
I think the black grill would look a bit wrong on mine tbf. When I get chance I'm going to try and make a hofele style grill with honeycombe mesh like the r32 lowers.
