Hey fellas can ya help me?
My 8 v has a K&N cone filter which sounds gr8. Im looking to do something similar with my valver, whats the procedure with the airbox being drilled and does it need a further tune after having the airbox drilled ? Has just been set up on RR so dont really wanna have it done again...........btw anyone want to buy an 80k valver in alpine with brand new G60 steels and brand new P6s plus all belts changed etc etc PM me. 3 dr

If you drill ya box.. u will need to get the mixture changed.. as it will make it more free flowing therefore require more fuel. so yes you will need to get it done again... Well worth it though. drilled airbox makes a superb noise!
How much u want for the 16v?
Cheers
Knobby!

you don't need to drill a 16v box mate there is a little plastic box clipped onto the wing side put a big flat headed driver in the crack of it twist it and voila drilled airbox! also remove the plastic cover clipped into the wing and you get even more air in, if you leave the arch liner in it's dry air too.
Will need setting up again on a rr though shouldn't charge you full price to get it reset though.

sorry thought u had an 8v... oops :embarassed:

he's got both I think hang on which do you prefer 8v like knobbys or t 'old valver like mine ;) he he the question of life the universe and everything!!

While your on the subject. How is the flap inside the box supposed to work? Mine is just constantly forward blocking the air feed at the font of the box. Its spring loaded but i cant see how its supposed to open. Ive jammed it open at the mo with a screw.
-
It's a warm up flap I left mine on and took the pipe to the exhaust off dunno never really looked at it tbh will tommorow though!!!
-
Yeah i blocked up the bit on the rear of the box that goes to the exhaust. But doing that would mean the box is sealed with the flap forward.
-
looking forward to hearing what the hell that little flap is for and how tyhe hell it works
-
That flap is the warm up flap as monza said - it'll only open in a cold start situation and draws hot air from the exhaust manifold to help the car idle and warm up from a very cold situation - and its a vacuum type system I think, working off the difference in temperature/pressure between the two ....
Block it up etc doesn't make a huge difference really - just on a icey morning really.

Hey fellas thanks for the reply, yep i have both, both 3 door both in Alpine both with Rainbow and Power steering, to drive id take the 8v all day but she is being concoursed prepped, to thrash the valver flies, and i use it day to day, if anyone is interested its done 80k or just over and ask for pics, has just had brand new G60 steels and P6000 all round plus track and camber, no leaks no smoke no crunch and looks top drawer
