Title: Not possible to make further changes to my spec
Post by: pauliem on 24 April 2013, 12:10
Emailed the dealer today, last minute change of heart.

Wanted to change black to white and add key-less entry.  He tried to change the order but told me that it was too far into the order process to be modified.

Is that a good sign or bad?  I'm not really that fussed, am sure black will look cool.

Sounds like cobblers to me! You should be able to change it up until you get a confirmed build week i think. :undecided:

I agree with Jimble - sounds like a load of tosh.  Its your car and therefore unless you have a build week (which I assume you don't and in any case the earliest any of our cars will be built is week 22 ie. end of May) you can change anything on your car up until that point.  Sounds to me like he's just being lazy (car salesman not wanting to do any work after he's taken the deposit shocker) - so make him change your order to what you want it to be - you're the one paying the money!!

Well said, and quite right too. I was also told you could make changes to you order until build week assignment. I made a change to my order last week to add keyless entry.

A touch of lazyitis me thinks

Rocket, fire, up, ar$e

Threaten to cancel the order or ask to speak to the General sales manager or dealer principle, that should get his sphincter moving !!

Lazy get  and to think, he's making commission off your order !

Completely agree that up until build week is assigned you can make changes. These changes may delay your car, probbaly not the colour change, but if keyless entry components are in short supply then maybe.

My dealer rang me today. He likes to give me a weekly update unprompted and when the order tracker started displaying "error" as if there was something wrong with the order, he rang VW UK for an explanation and update for both mine and my dad's GTDs. VW UK rang Wolfsberg who confirmed that the orders are in a kind of stasis as no GTDs/GTIs will be built until MY14, beginning on week 22. They apparently told my dealer that the cars will be most likely here for delivery in early July, maybe late June.

Considering when mine was ordered, I would expect most others to expect theirs then too as my order was accepted electronically on March 30th, and ordering was only open a few days prior to that.

Good info monkeyhanger; let's hope you're right and we'll start seeing deliveries for end June/mid July - I'd certainly take that given last time around I didn't get mine till the 2nd week in September!!

I will email them again - see what they say, before I become a real pain in the arse.

Could it be because my order is attached to a finance agreement that the changes are not possible and nothing to do with the build process?

No because the finance isn't actually completed / signed for until you go to get the car or a couple of days prior.
Those figures can easily be altered.
Try adding GAP or paint protection, they will soon move fast enough then to alter the figures!!
