Anyone think i would be stupid to start putting money into exterior styling (wheels, lowering, R32 body kit etc) on a V6 with 130k on the clock? FVWSH, mechanically sound apart from an oil leak from the oil filter housing which i will be sorting this weekend. My dad keeps telling me i'm stupid and just wanted your opinions.

its down to you, that engine can go into the hundreds of thousands if looked after. ive come to the conclusion that my motor is going to die of old age or die on the road and seeing that the insurance covers like for like then its a win win for me
-
130k, just run in....
-
cheers lads, better start saving for my porsche twists then :D
-
my 4mo had 190k on it before i sold it an it still gave a mates mk5 r32 a decent run for its money

The worst that could happen is the engine going bang, which would leave you two options.
Stripping it and selling the extra parts you put on or putting another engine in.
It's not dead money because you will reclaim some of it

never stop doing anything that makes you smile, otherwise you'll never smile again

everyone told me to buy a 1.8T instead of doing an engine conversion. If making your car how you want puts a smile on your face, then thats your answer.
Best thing ive done is invest in to my golf, its the only car i want to drive, so to me, it makes sense.

It's not me, i thoroughly want to spend money on it. Just my dad put a slight doubt into my head. Just signed up for 12 hour day weekend overtime at my work today, time and half saturdays and double time sunday which means i basically double my hours by working two days. Let the modding begin!

splash the cash then bud , and enjoy

Most of what you buy can be sold back on at a later date anyway..

Worst comes to the worst drop a 1.8t into it and have an s3/TT golf. Sounds like a win win.
