Post by: kingaz on 23 April 2013, 21:32
My car is nippy until the temp hits 90. The trip conp goes blurry and it drives slow. Got dicked by a diesel the other day. Any ideas?

Lol.....

Start with the basics, if the trip goes blurry check power, battery etc
I never ever drive mine hard until it's up to temp because before that you run the risk of damaging parts

Yeah but the trips fine up until it gets to temp. Might be coincidence. Had a mate check wiring etc. He cant find nothing wrong there.. i dont drive mine hard cold but u can notice the difference ALOT. Had a suggestion my air filter could be suckin thw warm air from the engine bay...sound possible?

Few more suggestions

blocked intercooler?

rubber intake/charge pipe hoses collapsing under load?

I would drive with vag com on live data from cold to warm to see if any readings are fluctuating

Diesels are faster than people think. If your 1.8T is standard I'd fancy my chances in my Fabia VRs. If both cars are mapped I still think it would be a similar story.
