Can anyone help with removing pitting on my BBS Montreal 2 alloys?
Only seem to get a build up on the rear wheels, i use my car daily and pitting seems to build very quickly over a week ( i try to wash regularly) the whole wheel surface on the rear is fairly pitted.
Have always used a non acidic wheel cleaner as dont want to mess up cenre caps but this wasnt harsh enough.
Tried Iron X which was fantastic but whether i have left the pitting too long before a clean it wont remove all the pitting (see pics)
Is there anything else i can try?
Also anyone else have experience of more build up of pitting on the rear wheels then front? VW pads harsher??

Clay bar them mate, you'll be amazed what will come off. With regard cleaning try and use a PH neutral products, I used auto finesse Iron Out and that does the trick.
-
is Bilt Hamber any good? i think they do different strengths of clay?
willing to give it a go, plus the car needs claying away :)
-
edit : as above try claying
-
I've only ever used Auto Glymm clay bar, but in my experience its all about lubrication, make sure both surfaces are kept wet.
-
Bilt hamber clay is my preferred clay bar. also you are able to use it with just water. if you want you can make a mixture if shampoo and water in a spray bottle as use that as lubricant.
Iron out will can be left to dwell for a bit long and then agitate with a sash brush. may need a few hits tho. you can even try tardis as it could be tar as well. then clay. clay the car first then use the clay for the wheels.
Hope that helps.

This will tackle it  http://www.i4detailing.co.uk/acatalog/CarPro_Iron_X_Paste_9.html

As above try Tardis and when u get all the pitting sorted and get a few coats of polish on the wheels then all u do is wash and it should all come off .

+1
Tardis plus iron x = winning combination. Then get some protection on there. Protection is the key.

cheers guys , will try the iron x paste, then get some proper wheel cleaner , like billberry pro and clay then use my billberry rim wax and hopefully that should remove the pitting and protect :)

The ironx paste is thicker than the spray so clings to the effected area better and has been designed for this exact situation.
To prevent this happening further, once you've got the rims completly clean and free from contamination, get them sealed well, if you want something that's durable and lasts get fk1000 p and layer it up. You will only need to tickle them after that to clean them ;)
-
just to check do i apply the billberry wheel cleaner first or the iron x paste?
-
I'd just use the paste, if that does the job then you won't need the bilberry, just make sure the iron x has been completely rinsed off and don't let it dry on, then dry the wheels and wax or seal.

Clean your wheels as normal and get the bulk of the crap off, rinse well then apply your ironx paste to the effected areas and leave to dwell for stated time on the bottle( normally 5/10 mins should be enough) Aggitate with a small brush after or during it dwelling which will help.
Rinse off well and inspect.

Yeah good call, i thought the wheels were clean and you were just tackling the pitting, soz! :embarrassed:
-
thanks again guys, will report back with results and pics!
-
after much scrubbing and 3 attempts with Iron X paste, i managed to shift the pitting
I then clayed and used poorboys rim sealent and hopefully that will sort the job.
Really pleased with the results :)

The reason i had so much pitting on this wheel, is the rear caliper is sticking on , so need to free that off or i will not be happy removing all that pitting again!!

Happy dayz! Well done mate. ;)
