Title: vw finance
Post by: dean07 on 22 April 2013, 19:57
My mother who recently passed away took out vw finance for a family member, but the family member paid the finance into my late mothers account every month. The family member is the registered keeper of the vehicle which has about 18 months to run until end. My question is to any vw sales people out there is, do they have to inform vw finance as the vehicle will be paid for in 18 months but sooner when my late mothers estate is settled. I personally can,t see a problem as said family member had a joint account with my late mother from which the monthly amount was paid from. As long as vw finance receives it every month I would,nt think there would be a problem. Many thanks

sorry for your loss.

I only problem I could see is that its registered to someone who has passed away, so may need to be transferred to the family member, personally if it was me ide transfer both the finance and who its registered too that way its out of the way instead of in 6 months time they come chasing you asking about it and stuff. cant see it costing anything ?

however ive never owned a car on finance so could be wrong.

Thanks for your thoughts. The family member is the registered owner/keeper of the vehicle, they could,nt buy the vehicle in their name at that time due to other matters. Making the repayments was never a problem as the vehicle was purchased as the family car mainly for to take my mother wherever she wanted to go and for the family members work for which they will now need the vehicle solely for now. I am the executor of my mothers estate and the finance is unlikely to run its full course in any event. As long as vw finance receive the monthly amount I can,t see how they would possibley find out anything has changed. Thanks

Sorry for your loss!

I'm with you, provided VWF get their money I can't imagine they'll be bothered who or where the money is coming from? If I were you I'd just continue to pay it for now but be careful as this means you won't be able to close that one account down. I hope it all works out ok for you mate without too much hassle.

Thanks for your kind thoughts. I can close the account if I want to as I had control of all my late mothers financial affairs but I won,t close the account as that would cause my family member grieve which I would not do. I have to inform my late mothers bank that she has passed away but vw could never find out anyway and like I said before the agreement is highly unlikely to run the full term and the family member will own the car which is what my mother wanted in the first place. God bless her. Thanks once again
