my 2.0 8v estate had done 236k miles when i scrapped it....
engine still running smooth and not using much oil ~1/4 on 1k miles

still miss that engine (not the rusty shell so much)  :embarrassed:

my tdi has done 245k, still does 70 miles a day, starts in all weathers all day everyday and doesn't use a drop of oil or water! Most reliable car I have ever had, good old solid basic diesel engineering
